I've been following this on another site. I'm trying to make heads or tails out of it before I start screaming too loudly. I will say, at first glance, it looks very bad.

Sounds like they'd be right at home here! The link to the correspondence mentioned in the article is dead. Still, I believe the emails exist and the means by which they were sent to the wrong web address seems plausible, too. After all, Republicans sometimes get confused by all the Internets they have to choose from.
So, it doesn't look good today, but as somebody else mentioned, the only poll that matters is one a week from today. Get out your extra undies, pizza, and ramen noodles, 'cause the youth belongs to Kerry! The future belongs to the young. And maybe the election, too. Gallup did a survey among first time voters and determined that they prefer Kerry to Bush by a huge margin, 50% to 35%. First time voters are primarily in the 18-29 year age range. This is the same population that may have been undersampled in the polls because many of them have only a cell phone and no landline. Zogby's tracking poll, which breaks down the results by demographic group, shows a similar result. Young (18-29) voters have markedly different preferences than the population as a whole. In six of the ten states surveyed, Kerry leads by double digits. These are Colorado (32%), Florida (22%), New Mexico (28%), Pennsylvania (15%), Wisconsin (16%), and Michigan (32%). In Nevada Kerry's lead is 8%. Bush leads among younger voters in two states: Iowa (4%) and Minnesota (20%). The latter number defies all reason. I wonder if it was a typo. Maybe if enough people ask Zogby to double check this, we'll find out. But the conclusion is clear: if younger voters break with tradition and actually vote in large numbers this time, it could swing the election.

Emails intended for President Bushs reelection campaign mistakenly sent to a parody site, georgewbush.org, reveal that White House and Capitol Hill staffers advised the campaign while on the clock, and that the campaign also received counsel from Libya leader Gaddafis D.C. public relations firm.
The site, which published the correspondence yesterday, also posted the email headers, which show how the message has been routed across the Internet, to confirm their veracity.

I don't disagree. However, I find it impossible to believe that even half of the people in Oklahoma believe in sterilization for poor women and the death penalty for doctors who perform abortions.
So, my only conclusion is that they are voting for Coburn because he's a Republican.
Does party matter? In my case, I could say that I vote for the man and not the party but I'm not sure what the difference is. I've never found a Republican to vote for that I could agree with. Since I don't believe in throwing my vote away on third party candidates that have no chance to win, that leaves me voting Democrat every time.
I may not care for Carson's positions, but he is most definitely the lesser of two evils. The fact that this election is a dead heat proves that some Republicans aren't voting party lines, but many of them are. In this particular race, the Republicans should be enjoying a rout instead of sweating out a close one.
Kerry is absolutely the wrong choice for president in this election. However, if elected he will have my support. I believe in democracy and supporting our leaders. Regardless of the campaign, he's our commander in chief. Hopefully some of his promises like the middle class tax break, pulling nations together, killing the terrorists, conducting a smarter war, getting other countries to help foot the bill, opposition to gay marriage, improving education, improving healthcare and improved security will actually come true. I'll be cheering him on after the election if he wins until proven otherwise.Originally posted by Sandy V.
swea_pea1 - Thank you.
There are a lot of very smart people on both sides of this election, and it doesn't make sense to be rude or inflammatory to either faction. Especially when 1/2 of us will be disappointed with the election's results, but hopefully ALL of us will be back on the CB the next day to talk about it and about many other things in the future.
I just happened to pop in after reading my e-mail; everyone have a pleasant evening!!

This type if thing is easily spoofed.
Not saying it's not true, not saying it is. Just saying if this is all they have to go on, it looks suspect.

Well, I'll admint that on local elections I rarely look at party. I've voted for many a Dem based primarily on their positions. I'm far more liberal when it comes to local issues than some on this board may think.

Actually, I should correct myself. I have voted Republican (shudder)...twice.
Once for a country road commissioner and once for a tax assessor.
I know, it's not much, but at least I can say I don't vote straight party lines.![]()

I realize that the source is a bit questionable because of bias, which is why you haven't seen me give any details about this.
However, with the number of emails listed and details within those emails, that would be some spoof job.
Time will tell........

It really is Bobby "Boris" Pickett doing the vocals. How about a list of celebrities who have come out in support of Kerry or those who have been along for the ride for most of the campaign?
