For Kerry Supporters Only

I thought Clinton looked a bit fragile also, but that is exactly the way people do look after bypass surgery. And I suspect the crowd was great medicine for him.

In fact.....just for laughs....on the "conservative" board, they have been claiming Clinton developed heart trouble deliberately to avoid campaigning for Kerry...... because he wants Kerry to lose so Hillary can run in 2008 ( wink wink ). And what did they say when Clinton made the effore to get out there yesterday? That the man just could not resist the lure of the applause, and displaying total lack of will power, he just HAD to get on stage.

I saw clippings of his interview on GMA and he looked very gaunt.
But man oh man he still has "it"

ETA- FiK. Jon Stewart actually mentioned that on the daily show last night.

thanks for posting that fik - i hadn't seen that before, but i found it very moving. i can only hope that young people will turn out in droves in this election.

That one worked, thanks. I know I'm not in the demographics this was intended for but I found it to be a great way to get a message across to many in that demographic.

I keep finding myself wondering why so many of my peers in the south and midwest are voting for Bush. :(

Sometimes, it really is a "puzzlement."

1. Do they really think that going into Iraq was the right thing to do? Or maybe they think it wasn't the right thing to do but just don't think the US should admit to a mistake?

Some of them genuinely believe that going into Iraq was the right decision, and when the reasons for war didn't pan out, justify that decision with the "bad intelligence" or "everyone else thought he had WMD's" rationalizations. Okay, fine.

However, how anyone can ignore the strategic disaster that is the Iraq, and then blame the MSM for not reporting "all the good things" borders on delusional.

2. Is it fiscal? Are they standing by Bush because they appreciated those $600 checks they got in the mail?

I don't believe it is simply fiscal or that anyone's vote has been bought with $600.

However, if these same individuals who acknowledge the mess in Iraq, the deficits reaching the stratosphere, and the job losses and still continue to support Bush because of tax cuts, well their vote has been bought with $600.

My standard answer to those people is "MY VOTE IS NOT FOR SALE!"

End of story.

3. Or maybe they believe that God speaks through Bush? Or they just share the same religious values as Bush and think that politicians should use their religious beliefs in making decisions for the country?

Some of the religious right may see George Bush as being sent from God to fight the crusade against the non-believer, but I've never met any.

And speaking of the religious right, one of the most satisfying moments in this campaign season was seeing this WH call Pat Robertson a liar. How sweet it is to fantasize how Pat Robertson must've felt when he realized he'd been "Bushwacked". One of life's grander moments.

I just don't get. :(

The truth is staring us in the face.

What you're seeing today is the result of nearly 20 years of Republican propaganda that "government is the problem". No, bad government is the problem, and we've got that in spades today.

So now we've got people in charge of an institution they have no respect for and we wonder why our government is falling apart. There's no wonder at all.

What is also working here is the results of 10 years of the demonization of Democrats that reached the level of art form under Newt (Hey Bill, I've got my own intern) Gingrich. That demonization was used simply to gain and keep power or to garner big ratings on radio.

The result is we are divided country that is literally at each other's throats. Thanks, Newt, Rush, Sean, and the rest of the opportunistic right. They've done their job well. I hope they're proud of themselves.

And I sincerely hope with all my might that they're about to be shown the door by the majority of the population - smarmy, lying *******s.

Here is an idea for a new poll!

Which is the nastiest/dumbest thread:

1. Which restaurant has the dumbest employees thread?

2. Kerry = Hitler thread?

3. Would Dems kill Bush? thread?

4. Other?

It's a tie between 2 and 3 for me
Those threads make me sick. And it really disturbs me to see how many people actually believe that filth

YIKES

Thank goodness I elected to stay in this thread. But I have to admit, some people seem to be working overtime to get us to join other threads. Those are pretty tantalizing titles. Also could be called pretty daned stupid threads. lol

Now there would be a good game for us. We send one brave person out to report on the titles of the other threads, and we try to guess who started them.

I'll play, FIK! :Pinkbounc :teeth:

Okay, so I'm having guilt. I have gotten zilch done today. I've got a bazillion invoices to enter into our system, but I'm addicted to the DIS today. I don't want to miss anything good. :hyper:

Let's see: smary, lying 7-asterisk/s.

Yup, that about sums them up. ;)

And if you want to get rid of these smarmy, lying, *******s, bring back the Fairness Doctrine.

Of course, the Republican party, the Limbaugh's, the Hannity's, the Savage's, the Medved's, and the rest of the rightwing shills for the Republicans are fighting that possibility tooth and nail.

Of course, they are. It would put them out of business.

Faithinkarma, LOL! I'm not brave, so I'm taking myself out of the running. Any political discussion I have from this point further will take place on this thread, I haven't even bothered to open any others. Its pointless, nothing is going to change my mind, so at this point its probably prudent for me to stay among like minded indivudals. :)

I'm sorry that I responded to that thread and bumped it back to the top.

You know, comparing an American politician to Hitler is never right. It wasn't right when Move On did it and it isn't right now. I see it as a pathetic "Hail Mary" in the last week of the election.

Good morning from the sunny Golden State, all you true believers, defenders of democracy, lovers of liberty, fighting for freedom and campaigning for civil rights, kings and queens of this great country, supporters of John Kerry, Democrats.

Current polls say this will be a tight race.

My incredible powers of prescience say Kerry in a walk.

McSweeney's Reason #143 To Dispatch Bush:

The United States Commission on Civil Rights, a bipartisan agency established by Congress, has prepared a report that is sharply critical of the Bush administration's civil rights record. The report "finds that President Bush has neither exhibited leadership on pressing civil rights issues, nor taken actions that matched his words." The commission's analysis highlights the administration's lack of action on voting rights and election reform, as well as on equal education and affirmative action. The report also criticizes the administration for facilitating racial profiling after September 11, and criticizes the EPA for its lack of attention to the impact of environmental contamination on minority communities.

On October 9, after Republican members of the USCCR objected to the timing, the commission voted to postpone final approval of the report until after the election. A draft remains available on the commission's website.

(Sources: "Bush's Civil Rights Record Is Criticized, Silently," The Associated Press, October 10, 2004. See article at: nytimes.com. U.S. Commission on Civil Rights Press Release, October 5, 2004. See article at: usccr.gov.)

Everyone has their "pet" issues... and civil rights is mine. This administration (especially John Ashcroft, a topic unto itself) makes my blood boil.

But in one week's time, that will be all over. Well... not technically until January, but still...

Thats one reason that I like this thread, because you are all laid-back and we all feel the same way! :D I literally got a headache reading the other threads yesterday. It's completely nuts, and I refuse to be a part of it!

On another note, when Cranky shank was talking about discussing politics with her family it made me think of mine. My strategy is avoidance at all costs. My dad has a heart condition, and if I told him my views I'm afraid that I would push him over the edge. So, it's always an issue of me changing the subject, lol!:D

:grouphug: I love this thread, I feel so welcome here... and the good vibes are making me happy.

Brownies anyone?
