About a month ago I purchased a iPod Nano for my DD. She says it will not hold a charge for very long. Anyone else experience this or know how to solve this problem?

Thanks!

I've heard this could be a problem so went ahead and got the extended warrantee from Best Buy, they cover that.
Does yours have any warrantee? If it's only a month old maybe you can return it?

Does she charge it on the computer, or using the wall adapter? I thought I had heard that they sometimes don't charge right using the USB port on the computer? It hasn't happened to me, so take this as a friend of a friend has a friend who says... kinda thing.

I don't have an iPod Nano but I do have a video, and it seems to stay charged for a while. I also use the AC Adapter rather than charging it through the computer so this might make it stay longer. Have you checked out apple.com? They have a troubleshooting section where you can look up problems and if it's not there you can probably call or email them.

My kids Ipod doesn't hold a charge either. It's gotten to the point where it won't work unless plugged into the charger and we've always charged from an outlet.

I called Apple and they told me if you have it repaired for 75.00 they will basically send you a new one. We're getting ready to do that in the next few days.

We bought the Best Buy protection plan for our Ipods, BUT since your DD's is only a month old, it should be covered by the regular warranty.

My mini wasn't holding charge either - this was why... I had my backlight on all the time - this wears down the battery - make sure it is only on for the 5 second option. This helped tremendously - now my battery lasts 10 times as long. Also, when it is not in use, push the hold button over - this also conserves the battery life.

What do you mean by "not very long"? Battery life on the nanos isn't that great anyway, but they degrade over time. But only a month old, it should be as good as new. Battery killers are - jumping back and forth between tracks, using the back light a lot, using the equalizer and playing at higher volumes, especially with inefficient headphones. You should be getting about 10 hours.

I will pass on all your suggestions. She is getting about 4-5 hours, I think.

Many thanks!

My ipod mini only would hold a charge for about 6 hours (the pre-nano ipod). After about 8 weeks, I was lucky if I got 2 hours. I contacted Apple and they have a limited warranty, which I was within. I sent back my mini and they replaced the battery. I also had the Best Buy warranty and used that after a year went by and had the same problem.

I've since upgraded to the regular Ipod and have no trouble with battery life.
