For fun: If there is one thing I learned about pin trading it is....

you can have a trader sit around for months with no interest from anyone. Then in one day you will have 2 - 3 people want it.

I thought it would be fun to list some knowledge you gained from pin collecting to share with newbies and not so newbies.:D

you look at everything differently.

on my recent trip to WDW I kept finding details that would make great pins! especially in small world. my favorite would be to make a spinner pin out of the sun face w/the rotating rays.

"that would be a good pin", "wouldn't THAT make a great pin?", my DH thought i was nutso!

...that if I buy alot of one pin because I think it will be a great trader, then it probably will not be.

Seems that Darlene's think alike.. this is my sentiment as well. I'm still reeling from the August event. Ugh... bought way too many pins and can't seem to give them away.

...that you begin to take a second glance at EVERYONE who's wearing a lanyard. Yesterday, I was sitting with Marg during her chemo treatment when a nurse passed by our cubicle. Having just returned from 9 days in WDW, I instinctively did a double take to check out her lanyard. She only had an ID tag, no pins! We did, however, share a laugh at my behavior at a time when it was sorely needed!

Always replace the pin backs after placing a pin on your hat and before putting the hat on your head. You try explaining to your doctor why you have 17 pin holes in your head.

Never ever collect an entire set again! This TDS 100 years of Dreams thing has worn me out, physically and financially. If another series comes along, I will only buy what I like!

Trade for what makes you happy, even if they are "only" rack pins.

Donna

Buy or trade only for what you truly like.

Most importantly, get the rubber back stoppers for all your pins. They hold them more securely, and are more comfortable.:)

.......how hard you try to quit, you can't. There will always be another pin that you have to have and another pin bag you have to buy to put the pins in. :)

there are great friends to be made from pintrading. I find that there are even times when I go to the park and never even trade a pin and I had a great time. I went to WDW for the first time for the August pin event and did nothing but meet all my great pintrading friends from online and trade........didn't even see much of WDW and it didn't matter. I love pintrading.

For Dar and Darlene....

Number 1 certainly applies to you guys. The only way to truly know if a pin will never be a good trader is to wait about a year or so.

The biggest thing I have learned is don't sweat it. If you miss a pin have no worries because eventually you will get it if you want it bad enough and you will always miss another.
