I saw the thread about choosing a DVC to live in. What about choosing a DVC/Resort to model your home after? I've thought about a Polynesian backyard or AKV living room, thoughts?

If we ever build that big beautiful house...

I will seriously consider making a play/entertainment room like Big Murgie's Den at Hilton Head. DH loves playing pool. It will have to wait. I won't let DH replace the dining room furniture with a pool table. :rotfl2:

I think my dream home is part Hilton Head, part Port Orleans, and part Grand Floridian. Southern Living calls the style...Low Country Cottage.

Also...not exactly a current hotel decor, but...

I've seriously considered doing a Mickey bathroom in Black, White, Red, and Yellow.

The big store in DTD used to have all of the accessories as in shower curtains, wall paper border?, towels, etc. I had it all planned out down to the Mickey toiletries.

I'm sure a lot of people have actually done this though.

I have to go with my favorite, SSR. I love the decor there. If I lived somewhere more tropical, BWV. I love all of the white and pastels. :thumbsup2

My friend did this exactly to her bathroom CUTE!

My daughter has a 2bed condo in Co. that we rented for her to use while away at school. We did the second bedroom as a Disney theme for when we visit. Mickey lamp, Black and Yellow on the bed, and some throw pillows that I had bought years ago at the MK. The pillows look like an old fashioned post card with Mickey Mouse on them.

At home we have so much Disney all over the house, and my DS won a piece of Bay Lake Tower art at the Doorway to Dreams event. He was nice enough to hang it in the kitchen, love that boy!!

If it could be any of the resorts I would have to say Port Orleans. If the choices are just the DVC properties then I would choose SSR.:goodvibes

We are just finishing up a small bathroom in red, black, white and yellow. I have Mickey curtains and cup, garbage can etc. The floor is grey and white tiles, but the best is the walls. My daughter is an art student in college and she painted the walls white with stripes in the middle of varying widths of red yellow and black. It looks great. She even painted the outlet covers with small Mickey pants, shoes etc. I love it. I go in there and :woohoo: . It is great.

I read it in Disney Files they have Disney Resorts inspired beddings available on JCpenny website now.

DS2 room is done it a Wildernes Lodge theme. I love it for a little boy! His baby room was done in all four parks (we had murals painted on all the walls.)

Went to JCPenny.com and looked at the bedding, looks pretty good. I didn't see any giraffes to put in my backyard or a geyser.:rotfl2: I seriously think I am will do at least one room and the backyard in some kind of disney theme. I really am inspired by the exotic resorts like AKV and Poly.

I was sitting in my home office the other day and a bugs life was playing, the DVD had rolled over to the menu page, it has this jungle sound, with birds and crickets and stuff, I felt like I was in a different place, really relaxing. Kind of like being on jungle cruise.

Oh yes, I think themed rooms are fun. I painted and decorated a Mickey Bedroom and Vanity. I also have a Wilderness Room in our basement.
Here's a couple of pics of the vanity and bedroom.

WOW Samsam that room looks grea!!

Thanks! I'm not creative on my own, so I have to go with a theme. This was our DS's room when he was still home (many, many years ago). He loved WDW and it was Disney themed when he was at home, but I turned it into a complete Disney Room after he moved out (empty nest syndrome).

I just put a new set of sheets and a duvet on our bed - giraffe pattern. One of our homes is AKV. I was in a Disney mood when I was shopping and they seemed perfect. now to make curtains. I also did DD's room in Winnie the Pooh a few years ago - it is still all there just now there are 2 girls in the room instead of 1. We also have Disney stuff t/o the LR. I would have a hard time choosing just one resort to model things after.

I have decorated our game room(now our bedroom )In the VWL style. We had our basement "finished" and my theme was the VWL. I chose the colors of green, maroon and beige. I found bedding in a green checked pattern. When we had "money", I got a few Stickley pieces- an entertainment center and a round card table with 2 chairs. I was also able to purchase many little knick knacks with a bear or moose themes While on a trip to the VWL, I was able to get appropriate WL themed trinkets, for example, a framed picture of the Lodge. We have a wood-like paneling in the room, many moose themed iron candles. All I need is the music to make me really feel "at home"!

Eventually it happens to most of us. It happens slowly, but one thing at a time, and before you know it, you will have created that feeling of "Welcome Home" to that vacation dimension we all love.

Thirty years ago, DiznyDi and I built our home. A few changes occurred along the way, but the outside always remained the same - dark brown shingles with faux timbers at the peaks and eaves, and bright orange doors. After thirty years of telling people to find the house at the top of the hill with the orange doors, we just needed that change. All of the doors now are forest green, and our home definately has that VWL feel as you pull up the long drive!

As the years have past, with each visit to "The World", the lights around our wrap around deck have gained carved heads from the Animal Kingdom hanging below them. And for her B'Day, I designed and built a Micket Wind Vane for the top of the garden barn, held up high with a large Mickey Hand. Every gentle breeze seems to point the Mouse to something important in our lives.

And one of the things I enjoy the most is creating and installing the hidden Mickeys around the garden and barns. They can be a show stopper when one is "discovered" by a guest or family member. Mine are small and the collection is just starting out, but they are really fun to do.

And of course, our interior has slowely gained a few items to remind us of our other love - SSR.

And it is not hard for anyone to know we are Disney fans - with vanity license plates and chrome Mickeys on the cars, and Mickey business card holders holding the expected and unexpected.

We haven't done the Disney furnishings yet, but time will tell.

Although it seems like lot, it is all very subtle, and not easily noticed by those nor enthused with the Mouse.

Have fun with it and let it tell you "Welcome Home"!
