Hello there friends,

I haven't posted since getting back from the cruise as life has been a little crazy. And I wanted to give those who may be curious an update.

As many of you may know, my mom was in the hospital when I left. That made leaving a bit difficult. but mom wouldn't hear of it. And fortunately, I have a dear friend from church who is a CNA and checked in on mom while we were gone and was a great help to her.

The day after we got back, monday, I took her to a colon specialist, Dr Tolland. He told us he wanted to do surgery on wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. He wanted to do it quickly as he was concerned about her conditioned. He fessed up after the surgery, that he was concerned it was cancer.

So the next two days I "baby-sat" her thru all the meds she had to take to prepare her for surgery. That was not fun, as she became a "whiner".

She was in good spirits the morning I had to take her to hospital. She went into surgery early which was great. My sister and I waited with Mom's pastor for almost 4 hours. Finally, they called us to go talk to Dr. Tolland. He decribed what he had found and said when he first saw the "mass" he thought it was cancer. After removing the section and opening it, he said he saw none. Whew! What a relief. Biopsies will confirm it. Should know something today. Just for confirmation.

Her two hospital stays have been not the best in the world. There has been alot of neglect, with bed-sores to prove it as well as other things. So I'm praying for wisdom there. And speaking with an attorney. This has been the most upsetting.

And to make things more challenging emotionally, my dad who is in a nursing home is not not doing well at this time. My cousin Bonnie who is an LPN, saw him on friday, and confirmed what I already felt. I will more than likely not have my "pop-a-dop" for Christmas. He will be with Jesus. And that's okay. I am at peace, but it will still be hard. You can never let go 100%

So, I covet your prayers. Mom is not aware of dad's condition right now. We are wanting her to think positive and get stronger. She look great last night. And I've made enough noise that they are taking "really" good care of her.

SO that's about it. Thanks for caring and keeping me and mine in your prayers. It is appreciated more than you know.!!!

God bless,
Winnie

Winnie, I am so sorry to hear of all your Mom's troubles, but am heartened to hear that things are improving. Stay tough with the people at the hospital, from the orderlies all the way up to the surgeons. Sometimes they need to be reminded why they chose to be in the medical profession.

I am so glad you posted. Continued prayers for you and yours.

Love,

Winnie,

I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles. I want to say, though, that I think it's amazing that your pastor waited at the hospital with you for four hours. I can't think of too many clergy that have that kind of commitment and time anymore, unfortunately...especially with congregations getting bigger and bigger. I hope that was a comfort to you.

I'll keep you in my prayers.

I'm so sorry about your Dad getting worse.
I'm thinking positive thoughts for you mom's results.
My best you you and Fred.
Fondly,
Suzanne

Winnie- the prayers from this board have carried us through many a medical crisis - we would like to send along our prayers in return, for peace for your father and increasing good health for you mom. As for you - that guardian angel has you enveloped in strong arms. Caroline and Roger

We were w/ June & Bob, and manny & Michelle this week end, and we were wondering how things were going, Im sorry to hear about your Dad, but I know how you feel about his heavenly trip, and I totaly agree w/ Leslie, keep tough w/ the hospital people, I used to be one myself, and know that the squeaky wheel gets the "attention" shameful as that may be.

Hang in there, and your friends have you in our prayers, and look forward to seeing both of you guys soon..

My prayers with you and Fred. I hope your mom gets better soon, and know your dad will be in good hands.

Well, last night my sister and I decided it was time to tell mom about daddy. We made arrangements ahead of yime to get her a 2 hour reprieve to go see daddy.

Sissy told mom of dad's condition. She cried and said she suspected. We got her dressed and bundled up and took her to see him.

He was not responsive and she couldn't get "pop" to open his eyes. We all just talked to him, cracked some jokes, and sissy and I sang some songs to him, like, "Beulah Land", "Amazing Grace", "Heaven's Getting Sweeter Every Day", I'll Fly Away", and more. It was very sweet. We all told him goodbye, and that we knew he was tired. And we told him to go see Jesus and get our mansion ready. It is just such a sweet moment when you can do this, knowing where he's going with assurance and knowing with that same assurance that you'll see him again.

The pastor was there when we arrived. He stayed the whole time.
He read the 91st psalm before we left. It is my favorite. Read it if you get the chance.

And by the way friends, if you don't have the assurance of knowing about your eternity destination, just e-mail me. I'd be happy to share with you how you can know for certain.

Much love to you all, and many thanks for your love and prayers,
Winnie
