We are going to Disneyland for our first time and our first time in California. We live in the Phoenix, AZ area and by the time we leave (June 11) it's predicted to be in the 100s. Now when I look at the outlook so far for Anaheim it's only in the mid70s.

How do you pack for CA weather? Being used to 'real' heat I'm worried that with mid70s if we bring shorts we'll be freezing?

We are Arizona Natives and LOVE the weather in California!

We always pack shorts and tanks for our summer trips but also take along a sweatshirt or light jacket for the evenings. Sometimes my kids will go to the room and change into long jeans. The evenings can become a little chilly. It seems like it is cooler inside Disneyland then CA, I think because of all the water.

Since we are Natives to the heat we suck up all the great weather when we are there because we know that at home it will be HOT HOT HOT!!

Have a great time!:yay:

I'm from AZ too. I find even if my legs are chilly, they don't bother me much. Plus, all the walking and the sunshine tends to keep me feeling warmer there than the equivalent temperature here where I always seek out shade if outside. I just make sure to have a sweatshirt or light jacket, because my upper body does get cold and that bothers me a lot more.

I wear shorts and a short sleeve shirt with a light jacket that I can take off at usually 10 or so. My son and I were kind of chilly early morning and in the evenings. My wife wore her jacket in the fall the entire time while eveyone else was in shorts and tee shirts. We brought a backpack so that we could take off layers and put them back on as needed. I was wearing a hooded sweatshirt next to the pool while people were swimming last fall :)

We live out towards palm springs and it gets HOT here during the summer as well. I suppose most deserts do lol Anyway, the sun feels hot even if the temperature doesn't reflect it. Pack shorts for sure but also bring a pair of pants for evenings or at the very least a light jacket. Once the morning clouds burn off you will not be cold, promise. Enjoy your trip!! :)

We live in Tucson, and visited Disneyland last July - bring shorts. It's pretty humid, and in the sun it gets pretty toasty. I wore shorts and a very lightweight, longsleeved t-shirt and hat for protection from the sun... and I was hot.

I live in Vegas, I cant testify to shorts because I dont where them in even 115 degree, I always where Jeans and am comfortable. My DBF packs both but useualy only where his jeans. If you wear shorts youll probably want to change when it gets dark. I bring a light sweater to where in the mornings sometimes i bring a heavier one for the evenings but nothing more then a sweat shirt is necessary. hope that helps:)

New Mexico here..I tended to pack for it to be cooler..but several times it has ended up super HOT. Once in May it hit 105 when we were there and then the infamous Destination D Scavenger Hunt day that hit 113 or so..I pack for all temperature variables since then..shorts, long pants, hoodie for cool nights..wacky weather all the time there for me.

Same here. I pack for both cool and warm weather after learning the hard way. In the summer it is usually in the high 80's, but last Augsut it was really cool for 3 days of our trip and we had to make a trip to the Target store to buy warmer clothing.Lesson learned!! Just watch the weather report and you will be fine!:)

I agree with dizzymomx4,love Cali weather. Nice to get away from the 'pizza oven' heat of Tucson for awhile. If it gets too chilly,we bring sweaters or light jackets. (wish I could can some of the weather and bring it home) :rolleyes1

Yep, its always chilly once it gets dark! Bring hoodies for everyone! :) Oh, and we always get one of those lockers up front so we dont have to carry them around all day. Once we start getting cold, we send DH to go get them!
