Hey DVC'ers I just bought a 4 day hopper pass at our Disney store and they gave us one off the rack display on the floor and activated it on the register. I never had these before, we always got them at the disney store from a locked drawer behind the counter that were already in a little folder.

Anyone else get these yet or have they been doing this for awhile. The CM said that's all they use now.

We got the 6 day plus for our summer trip. They worked fine. We took our receipt from the Disney Store with us on the trip, just in case there was trouble with them being really activated. We had no problems at all with them. I would not worry.

Looks like they are taking the lead of most retailers that do this with gift cards instead of gift certificates. If you use live tickets, someone has to count them and keep them under lock and key. Using this method, someone could take all they want but they will be no good until activated at the register. From a management perspective, this is much simplier.

I think they've been using that media for the better part of a year now. Last spring there were reports of people having problems with the passes, so I guess it wouldn't hurt to keep your receipt handy for the trip. I haven't seen any complaints related specifically to the DS passes for 4-6 months now, so they probably have the issues resolved.

We bought our passes at the Disney Store in August and had no problems with them at all. I did make sure to bring the receipt with us though, just in case. In fact, the CM gave us a separate receipt for the passes, different than the sales receipt. She said to keep it in a safe place in case we lost our passes, then they could use the receipt to replace them at the park.

I would always suggest that you keep your receipt until you use the ticket the first time. In September we traded up some old hoppers that we had for annual passes. 2 minutes later when we tried to get through the gate at MGM the passes showed as being expired! It turns out that the girl who processed the ticket put in that they would expire on August 31, 2003. 1 day before we actually went in the park (I still haven't figured out why they had an expiration date on them-what if we were not using htem that day?). Anyways she didn't think that she made a mistake.
