I've started carrying a waist pack into WDW parks. I got a lot of ideas from Deb Will's site. ( Click here for a direct link ) .

I bought an Eagle Creek Sidekick waist pack ( Click here for a picture and description ) . It is a full size waist pack with three zippeed compartments and one front, open compartment that is the perfect size for WDW Guidemaps. That was one of the reasons that I bought it.

The following is a list of things that I plan on carrying:

Front Open Pouch (2001 DIS BUTTON)
1. WDW Guidemaps (MK, EPCOT, MGM, AK, Downtown Disney, Epcot Resort Area, Water Parks.)
2. WDW Guidebook (Restaurants)

First Zippered Pouch
3. Thin money-clip wallet (cash, WDW resort key card, WDW annual pass, American Express credit card, Disney Card, phone card, driver's license.
4. Priority Seating list (printed on one sheet by customer service).
5. Special tickets (MVMCP, CP, etc.).
6. Copy of Resort Reservation, Annual Pass, Credit Card, etc.).

Second Zippered Compartment
7. Clip-on sunglases.
8. Mini-Flashlight, key-clip-on.
9. Mini-Swiss-knife, key-clip-on (tweezers, tooth pick, scizzors).
10. Coins in special section.
11. Plastic pencil in its holder.
12. Note Pad in its holder.
13. Chewing Gum.

Third Zippered Compartment
14. Disposable, flash camera.
16. Micro-umbrella
17. Disposable poncho for rain.
18. Game-Boy with light.
19. Naprosen.

What kind of waist pack do you carry and what do you carry in the parks.

Ray :)

Wow Ray, you are very organized, I admire that! :)

It's interesting that you've brought this up. I've been thinking about it myself, and although I normally wear a waist pack at WDW, with all the events and park hopping that might be going on I'm not sure how I'm going to manage. Pants and jackets may be necessary for the evenings and timing could be very tight as far as getting back to Port Orleans to change, etc. I really have to plan this and what events I attend carefully, or else I'm going to really miss my pack mule (DH)! ;)

Ray, I do a back pack when I have the kids. I hate those waist packs, only because they look horrible on me! Yikes, I guess it is because I have to much of a waist. I do not plan on having anything but a small pocketbook/back for this this. I can not wait!!!!

I have been wondering this very same thing........

And glo, I don't wear waist/front/fanny packs either because my middle is just a wee bit too big...and they look horrible on me! :(

In years passed, I have always carried my heavy purse.....and have made DH carry a heavy backpack when it wasn't on the stroller (LOL). I am trying very hard to 'part with my purse'.
It's a running joke around here that I have worn a purse since I was 2 years old.

I'm leaning towards a backpack of somesort, because like Kim said, I think there will be times when we will need warmer clothes and I won't have time to go back to the room.....especially for the kids!

And Ray, I think I know who's pack to steal :D :D :D j/k

I'm going to go look at Ray's pictures now........... :)

Great links Ray. :) I think your waistpack would be waaaay too big for me. :(

At Disneyland I carried a purse, but it was shaped like a waistpack and about the samesize, but it had a long strap that I put over one shoulder. It worked wonderfully because it was big enough to carry a couple of diapers and one of those wipes holders  but it was just a wee bit too small and a wee bit too deep.....very frustrating when you're trying to find somelthing.

Definitely leaning towards a smaller backpack. :)

The only things I can think of that I would add to Ray's pack is tissue, wet wipes, and lipstick.
But with kids, you just never know! ;)

*sigh* I'm afraid my waist pack is called a diaper bag

On the downside it is rather large but on the upside it can fit a lot of stuff (some of it that we definitely would not want to be without ;) )

I am carrying a waist pack with camera, film, and a disposable poncho. I am also carrying my video camera in a bag.

I try to bring just the bare necessities. Inside my waist pack I plan to carry: resort ID, AP, copy of my passport, small bag for coins, lipstick, camera, a comb. The lighter the better. One of the great pleasures I find in travelling to WDW is to be able to leave my purse at the resort and forget why I have to carry such a big bag daily.

I don't care for vanity :) I not only wear a fanny bag Size VERY LARGE ;)
but I also wear a visor. Since my girls are older, we will all take turns carrying the backpack. I haven't decided which type yet though.

I have one that is super light weight and you almost can't tell that you have it on when you walk, but you have to dig for everything when you go to get something out of it. We also have several backpacks that the kids have used at school including a couple that are Pooh packs.

I will carry in my fanny bag my resort key, charge card, theme park passes (if not on my room key), MVMCP tickets and PS info in the front flap.
In the middle pouch will be my camera and autograph book :)

The back pack will carry extra socks, pancho (maybe), and video camera inside a ziploch bag, as well as an empty ziplock bag. Also, Extra camera, video camera tape and extra battery. Of course we'll have snacks and even bottled water. If the back pack is too heavy, we'll rent a locker. If I have to resort to a wheelchair, than I'm sure carrying all this stuff would be no problem then.

LOL Shannon.......I carried a diaper bag for 8 years!!!!!!!!!! I carried one until my DD was 6~~I guess I was just used to it! Then DS was born and carried it around for more two years! I am slowly getting away from 'the diaper bag' This is a BIG step for me. ;)

The good news is that DS is potty trained! The bad news is, we still need all the goodies (minus the diapers, of course) that were in the diaper bag.

I'm telling you guys.......this whole subject is very 'touchy' for me still! ;) I try and try to 'downsize' my purse, but it is really difficult for me!

I try to carry as little as possible. I have a bad neck/back thing and the less i carry the better.

My purse stays home on these trips. It has never even seen the airport!

I have a great Disney fanny pack. (That waist thing though, I have to admit I often end up slinging it over my shoulder :) )

I usually carry:

Change purse (it is very small, about credit card size. I keep money, credit cards, and resort id and passes), lipstick (can't leave home without it!), Camera (I have to admit, I often leave it behind. I am so busy being wide eyed that I usually forget to take pics  ) I also carry a small pill container and moleskin.

I usually have the park map either clutched in my fist, or in my pocket. Hate keep putting it into my pack anf back out. Way too much effort.

That's about all I carry. I usually head back to the resort during the day, so if I forget something or if I need anything, I can pick it up. Don't have children, so don't need most of what all you moms need! It's amazing the things you need when you travel with kids.

Tia I'm just waiting for the day I can actually carry a purse again. Our last one isn't potty trained yet :( (of course she isn't quite 2 yet either!) One day soon I will be able to walk around without a 20 lb. bag on my shoulder

Just a suggestion. Have any of you tired the Save Your Back Bags. They are GREAT! I carried one all over Europe with Guidebooks in it and it never seemed as heavy as a purse! The one I have has a built in wallet type pocket with a change holder and places for cards! They look a little nicer than backpacks (I use mine on business travel sometimes when a backpack would not look good!)

I found mine at www.normthompson.com, but I know there are several out there. The one I have converts to a backpack and is made of micorfiber (I don't know if you are suppose to wash them, but I did and it worked fine!)

:( Oh CarolA, I can't get to the site :( Sounds great though. :) I'll try again later. :)

Oh Oh Oh, this might be my new bag for Disney trips!!! :bounce: :) :bounce: :)

Thanks for fixing me!

By the way, the bag I have is the
Microfiber Save Your Back Bag. They also have the Healthy Back Bag. The Save Your Back is the one that converts to a backpack. I have the small and I can get my 35mm camera with the zoom lens, a book and other junke in it!.

But the most important question is....will one of those yellow ponchos fit in there as well?? :D ;) :D ;)

I hadn't considered any kind of pack, be it backpack or fanny pack, but I'm sure one would come in handy. Last December I lost (and found) my checkbook  room key, passport, and also the key to the safe in the room. Duh! Apparently I left my brains at home on that trip.

Generally I just carry my wallet, passport, special tickets, etc., but this time I'll be adding my Palm Pilot (to keep track of meetings and PS's), so maybe a fanny pack is in order.
