So the DDE card supposedly makes you eligible to be invited to special Dining Events.

Can any current or past DDE holders comment on these events? What types of events are they and about how often do you see them scheduled?

Just curious...

They have a special dinner every month. It usually cost around $125 per person. Every once in a while there is also a lunch which is usually a bit cheaper, like around $75 per person. Usually there is a winery involved as well as one of the Disney chefs. The location varies from resort restaurants to park restaurants.

Oh that sounds like fun! How much advance notice of the event do you get? It sounds like something I'd like to do if they happen to be held during one of our trips.

You will get a newsletter about once a month..with the current special menu and a note on what is coming up for the next month's dinner, when the reservations for these dinners open up and what number to call, or email address to contact. $125 per person is correct, although during the holidays there was a gingerbread house making class (excellent) $55 per person. We are hoping they do that again next year.

I was told by other DDE members..that they don't always get the newsletters out in time, but we haven't had a problem receiving them at all. The next dinner is 1/20 at Le Cellier. February dinner is 2/13 at Jiko.

webray - Thanks for the info! I can't wait to start receiving the newsletters!

Sounds like they are snail mail? Or are they e-mail?

Hope I can take advantage of one in June!

Snail mail right now..although at the gingerbread making event the head of epcot food/wine fest and she had something to do with DDE was there. I think there are going to be some changes..trying to get the word out quicker/better. She was asking for everyones input as to how they have enjoyed past events, getting the word, etc. The biggest complaint from people who have been attending the event for years was that the newsletters are come too late. Again, we haven't had that problem..but, keep in mind..you can always call every month and see whats on the agenda as well.

So do you just call the same number that you order the card from?

Seems like kind of a pain, both for members and the people answering the phone. Too bad they can't just put the schedule up on a website. Sure would save them some paper and postage and probably get better attendance, etc.

You can email your reservation now, too. It was in the last newsletter.

So, for those of us who are still waiting on the card to come (me), can you e-mail the DDE people and ask about events? Or is that a no-no?

If you call the DDE number, there is an automated list of the upcoming events. I think it was option 4 when calling. Just FYI this month is at Le Cellier on the 20th, and next month is Jike on 2/13 for Valentine's Day. HTH!
