we are planning on 2 weeks.. one at boardwalk, one at the grand. we will have 7 in our party. 2 adults. children aged 13, 10, 5, 2 and an infant. we realize that in both resorts the rooms are supposed to accomodate 5 plus an infant, but feel that squeezing the 2 year old in wont be a problem. (we did this this past feb at WL without issue) my question is this... we are considering going into a concierge room when we get to the grand. would this be an issue for CMs with the extra 2 year old in tow? has anyone ever heard of someone being asked to purchase an extra room for this reason? the 2 year old doesn't eat much, and the baby will still be nursing, so we arent trying to get something for nothing. we just feel concierge service would be a wonderful addition to this trip. there would really only be 5 of us using the service at all. is this a risky thing to do? are the cms in the concierge lounge even aware of guests sleeping arrangements? please let me know what you think or if anyone has ever heard of a negative outcome in the same situation. we can always bypass concierge service if it is whats needed to keep us all in one room together.

I can tell you this will probably turn into a debate, so I don't want to say too much. Disney's policy is up to five people ages 3 or over in a room, plus one person under 3. In the concierge room, you do risk the staff seeing that you have one extra person under 3. That could (or will) cause a potential problem. In a regular room, you really don't have much of a chance of the staff noticing. But, that's as far as I'm going with this topic, lol. I have to say for this one, make a decision based on what you think is the right thing to do.

The reason no one has answered you is because this is a very touchy subject that usually ends in arguments and gets the thread closed. Disney is pretty strict on the number of people in the rooms and if it were me, I wouldn't chance it. I would suggest the home away from home resorts. You can rent points from a DVC member and get them at a reasonable amount and have plenty of room for your family....and you'll be comfortable too.:teeth:

I just wanted to add, it's not the resort that really sets the maximum occupancy, but the Orange (or Osceola) County fire codes. They have to be able to account for a few things within the fire code/restrictions.

I just answered this same question in another thread?

As a mother of two small boys (age 4 and 2) I can tell you that you'd all be MISERABLE in one room together. I can't even imagine 7 people in one of those small rooms. If I were you I'd book a two bedroom villa at one of the dvc resorts and let your family have some breathing room. You and your spouse can have the master bedroom with the crib set up for the baby, and put the other 4 kids in the second bedroom (two queen beds in there). You will have a much more enjoyable vacation.

Or, if your heart is really set on the GF, forget the concierge and book two ajoining standard rooms.

Good Luck! :wave2:

Also, I just have to add, that I can't believe you survived with 7 people in one room at the WL! We just returned from our stay there, four of us, and I can't imagine how you all fit?? I would have run from that room screaming for a vacation! LOL ;)

I agree with TigrLvsPooh- it's going to be VERY claustrophobic in that room with all those people. We stayed lodge concierge with our 2 and 4 yo last year and by the end of the week I was ready for some SPACE.

My mother accompanied us and we got an extra connecting room, and that made all the difference. We were able to get the kids to sleep then sit in my mom's room for a nightcap or to watch TV in the evening. It was still nice to get into a multiple room environment the second week :D

We're fairly tidy people, but once the kids get back from the parks with assorted bags of stuff, Mylar balloons and drink cups, the room gets messy quickly. Throw in a few towels from people showering twice a day, multiple changes of clothes, the accumulation of laundry and you can imagine how space will be at a premium.

On the concierge issue- when you check-in, you are seated at the desk in the lounge. Unless some of you are going to hang around outside the building (you need a special key to get in), it's going to be hard to get 7 people into the room. Also, you walk past a couple of concierge CM's every time you go to the elevators, so there will be a good chance you'll be noticed.

Good luck with your decision

thank you so much to all of you who replied. we have actually decided on 2 joining rooms for this trip, then we are looking into buying the vacation club for next time. our family is just getting too big for conventional vacationing...! cant wait til next year!

peter&wendy: You should look at the DVC rent/trade board on this site. It will give you a good idea of what DVC resorts are like and how to use point system. Many people rent from current DVC owners as a trial before buying.

We are a family of 6 and will never go back to the expensive 2 connecting rooms at a deluxe resort that we used to do.
