Here goes: $.02 worth. The key is HR and working at aerobic capacity. If you can get this with a good fast walk or a wog or jog, you will find this helpful.
I started this with several WISH friends back a couple of years ago. We all wondered the effect and figured why not give it a whirl. We started with trying to just keep moving from one mailbox to another or driveway to another. Oh what a journey it has been.
The change in muscle (increase) will fuel your body more efficiently. Another thing to remember is if you incease your walking/wogging/jogging/running that you should not decrease your other activity or it will be an even exchange (calories out) and while you WILL feel better your net result may not be different.
You also need to hear that you will not necessarily lose unless you commit to making healthy eating choices along with the increased activity. Calories in must always be less than calories out no matter what you do.
That said, yup! I've increased my output and while I do not necessarily run fast, I wog a lot! It has definitely helped me along with some cross training, pilates, or basic exercising, I've made it from a size 18 (almost 20) to a 12 over the time and I'm happy about all the friends I have made as I walk along the trail at home or with DIS friends at various events we participate in.
It is worth it and YOU CAN DO IT!
