For Blondie and anyone else who is grieving

I just saw this thread, thanks for posting about that book! I'll have to check it out.

One of the biggest things for me right now is that I need to talk about it, I want to talk about it, and I can't find enough people to listen! Everyone is busy with their own lives and such and it's hard to find a willing ear, ya know?

Thankfully I PM'd with someone this weekend and it saved my sanity! My dad's struggle also brought my older brother and I closer, and that helped too as we've been talking and emailing as well!

Thanks again!

Oh, how I understand! I still have that need 15 months later. PM me anytime. I remember the day of my mom's funeral watching the world go by its business and I just couldn't believe the world hasn't STOPPED. I mean, how could the world just go on without her in it? I still have moments of gut-wrenching pain. When you are that close to someone you never stop missing them. You just somehow learn to live your life with that grief. We both know our parents would want us to be happy and enjoy life. We have to remember that always.

Hugs to you.

I don't really know anything about the situation mentioned, but I was given this book when my father died when I was 17 and it was very helpful for me. I recommend it to everyone who loses someone close to them now because it really helped me to understand what I was going through.

After my great grandma died we were all devastated. It was very sudden...well, its always sudden. you can't prepare yourself for something like that. But I was looking through her things and I found this old photoalbum and in it there was a bookmark with a poem on it. The poem speaks to anyone who has ever lost someone they love.

When I Must Leave You

When I must leave you
For a little while,
Please do not grieve
And shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow to you
Through the years,
But start out bravely
With a smile.

And for my sake
And in my name,
Live on and do
All the things the same.

Feed not your loneliness
On empty days,
But fill each waking hour
In useful ways.

Reach out your hand in comfort
And in cheer,
And I, in turn, will comfort you
And hold you near.
And never, never
Be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you
In the sky.

Whenever I read that I think of her now. We have a picture frame with it in it and a picture of my grandma and her together. Maybe that will help you like it helped me.
