Just being curious, are most of you taking the $5 off or the free days? We will be buying next week on our disney vacation amd are just trying to figure which to take.

Thanks for the help.

Stacey...

Survey says..... 70% of the people who answered said they would take that $5 off. Actually, there is a poll here on the DIS that asked that exact question, here is the link to it http://198.65.131.237/showthread.php?s=&threadid=155196

Personally, we talked to our guide yesterday and told him to sign us up for 600 pts at BCV. We took the $5 off discount because he told me that the rooms were based on availability like every other Disney type discount and sometimes would be hard to get for the days we want and I am not very flexible with my days. He told me if you decide to take the days and then find out for some reason you can't use them, you would loose them. There was no turning back.

$5 off here too!

We also were worried about being able to get a room, when we needed one. And our next trip is already planned for August with a big group of people, all staying at ASMusic - and we wanted to still be part of the group and stay with them.

We went with the $5 off, since we're not able to take another trip until this fall. When we go in November, we'll just use our points. Then in Feb 2003, we'll have a new allotment to use.

We considered the 7 nights at the Poly (200 add-on), but since rooms were garden view, with no upgrades, we decided against it. Additionally since we are financing this add-on, we didn't want to pay financing on the extra $1000 for 3-10 years. The total cost for financing would far exceed the cash price for garden view Poly......Johnnie

We went with the free nights stay and hopefully, we can use them for our already planned May vacation. If not, we'll use them next March and save our points.

Terry....just a thought, but others here have suggested that it would be better to ask DVD to assign you two or three smaller contracts that add up to 600 points rather than one large one.

Reasons....if you want to sell some points down the road, you have to sell an entire contract. Large contracts are harder to sell than smaller ones, and almost always for a lower price per point. Also, if you want to will contracts to different children, relatives, etc, you cannot split a contract.

Just food for thought. Maybe three 200 point contracts or even 4 150 point contracts? If they all have the same use year, it has absolutely no impact on reservations, banking or borrowing issues that I can think of.

Would we be able to book these nights right away? (like when making purchase?) Would not mind adding them right after our cruise. We would be taking a chance if we don't have the flexibility as many others might. I am starting to consider now the $5 off.

Granny, thank you so much for the suggestions. Actually with the help of the wonderful people on this board and all of my annoying questions we did just as you suggested. We decided on the 4 contracts because we have two childern and we can will them evenly then.

If all goes well with paperwork, financing and obtaining a reservation when I call on March 6th, we will be making our first visit home on September 30th. I can't wait! Thanks again.

Absolutely the $5 per point off, it lets me buy 175 points rather than 150.

I was told by my guide that once all the paper work is done, you will be able to book your "free" stays. The black out dates have been posted, and no one has hinted they are incorrect. My guide also said that there is no "artificial" limit on these stays.

You can book any resort listed on a "first come, first served" policy, which is only limited by the actual number of standard view/type rooms available. There is no artificial limit like some of the discount rates (AP, DC, or code). The free stays may be booked as little as one week in advance or up to 7 months in advance. Rooms may not be upgraded at time of booking, or at check in.

I'm going to take the free nights!
