We purchased our DVC points at a time when our daughters were younger but old enough that DH..only male;) was basing our purchase around a 1 bedroom. Since then we've also had 2 bedrooms and loved our investment ever since.
Now for the first time, I'm looking into studios. This may be premature, but our dd19 is in the process of applying for the Disney College Program, so I'm already playing with how many visits I can squeeze into a 4-8-12 month range;)... hey, it's the DVC mom in me.. "so what, who cares" :rotfl:

Having made a standard 1-2 bdrm kitchen packing list over the years, I'm wondering what "extras" people bring for their studio stays? I'm only talking like 3 or 4 nights per stay but most likely we'd be flying. I'm already including 2 [real] coffee mugs and my Brita pitcher (that goes without saying)... as well as the basics (popcorn, coffee and park snakes..). Does anyone pack extra Solo type products?(bowls, cups) or other kitchen utensils (can openers)?

Any suggestions please :) Thanks! :)

There are real coffee cups as well as a can opener in the studios I have stayed in. I have thought about bringing my slow cooker if we were going to be there for a week and using it for a meal or 2 but so far our stays have been short.

We drive instead of fly so that makes a difference in the amount you can bring.

If you are planning to stay every few months, you may want to look into an Owner's Locker (www.ownerslocker.com). You can store your water filter, mugs, real coffee, clothes, toiletries, etc. in the Owner's Locker. We have a locker and it's delivered and picked up from any resort we choose. It's certainly worth looking into.

Good luck.:yay:

I pack disposable cups and plates. There is a can opener, toaster, full size coffee maker with real cups. I leave my snakes at home since Disney has a no pet policy.

Not so much for a studio, but for in general, you might consider packing away a few extra thousand dollars... those employee discounts on DVC are tempting. :rolleyes1 Good luck to your daughter! My eldest son did the program and came out of it with a new appreciation for money, and a wonderful girlfriend (played on the same CM softball team) who's parents are avid DVC'ers :)

for just 3 or 4 days - not really

now for a week or more - grill, my own cleaners - okay clean the kiitchen and bathroom.

what you might consider is when eating out splitting the meals.

Thanks... I really hope she has a shot. We've talked to many young people over the last couple years and have yet to hear anyone say it was the worst decision they'd ever made.:thumbsup2

Thank you to all for your suggestions and sorry about the park snack confusion.. I was discussing our Saturday dinner plans while typing:rolleyes: I of all people would be the last person having a snake as a pet!:hippie:

I love when other people make typos like I do .

For our studio stays, we always bring plastic microwavable plates, a knife and cutting board, real flatware (although this can be requested from housekeeping) and containers for leftovers. Good luck to your DD! -- Suzanne

I'm thinking about bringing one of those cheap "burners" that just plug in. I had one in my college room long time ago hope I can find one somewhere.

when we did it, we packed a sandwich for the plane in a ziploc box, then washed and re-used those as cereal bowls, etc. We bought paper plates, and brought a few real forks and spoons too- we drank the tap water with no issues-
it was actually nice! I didn't cook much except for some reheats and breakfast eggs'n' cheese then made toast for the sandwich part(dh can;t live without those)
we did it for 2 weeks with no complaints- I don;t clean on vacation other than a quick wipe up,so it suited me fine!

We only use studios and got an owners locker last year which we LOVE! I packed some plastic cups & straws for the pool + a collapsible cooler, a couple of blue ice things & some bottle & can huggies (cozies some ppl call them). Also stored some paper plates, coffee filters, assorted sizes of ziplock baggies, extra plastic silverware, scissors, coffee scoop, can/bottle opener and a small set of sharp knives (there are no "real" utensils in a studio). Also some old plastic cereal size bowls with lids (think Gladware type things) and an ice cube tray.

Non-studio related items include string backpack, pool / beach bag, flip flops, toiletries, mini umbrellas & ponchos, OTC meds, packing tape, scotch tape, glue, sewing kit, sunscreens, spare batteries, spray fan bottles etc. In total I have about 120 items in our owners locker so it saves a LOT on packing repeat items that you always, always take.:thumbsup2 I agree that you are a PERFECT candidate for an Owners Locker, although you'd need the plan with unlimited visits.
