I am still trying to get my DH to agree to a trip in Feb He's softning a little, but still not enough for me to make arrangements. So I have a favor to ask for anyone who will be heading there sometime soon.

Could you send him a postcard from like Mickey and the gang and write on it

We miss you....come visit us soon! or Are you coming back to see us in February...we miss you!!!

Or something like that??????? He'll get a kick out of it and maybe that will help some.

If you would be interested in doing this for me, please PM me and I'll give you his name and address.

If anyone has other nudge nudge ideas....please share....LOL0

Your PM box is full. I guess that means you got a lot of replys. If you still need someone, i am going in October and would be glad to send a "Wish you were here" postcard from Mickey. PM me his name and address if you would like.

I am heading down on October 2nd. Send me a PM with your address and I will be glad to send out a postcard to your DH.

We will gladly send you a postcard from Florida, we only live 15 minutes away from Disney and love it, even with all the hurricanes.

Can you send my son a post card for his class project as well, here is his information:

We have a project in our geography class called "Post Card Exchange." Pease help me and see how many cards we get.

The objective is to familiarize students with communities around the United States and beyond through communication with friends, family and personal travel.

How the competition works: Students compete with other class periods and their teacher. Whoever has the most postcards in December and then again in May wins. There will be a reward to the winning class in December and a reward to the winning class in May.

Rules:
Florida postcards (since this is where we reside) are nice and welcome, but they will not count towards the tally.
The postcard must have the student's first and last name written in greeting.
No electronic postcards.
Postcards must be sent directly to Oyssey Middle School and postmarked outside of Florida.
REGULATIONS:

Only 1 postcard per individual, per place. In other words, 6 postcards postmarked in Yonkers, NY from Grandma A equals 1 postcard. One postcard from Grandma A and one from Grandpa A equals 2 postcards. However, if Grandma A visits another town, state or country, she is more than welcome to send another postcard that will count towards tally.
Please understand that postcardsare being used for educational purposes. It is perceivable that they will be personal to students, to a certain degree. Be advised that if they are deemed inappropriate (anything that may be obviously embarassing to the student, his or her peers, or teacher) they will not count towards tally.
An international postcard counts as 5 domestic postcards.
Students are strongly encouraged to send postcards to their class when they travel outside of Florida during this school year.
Please send postcards to:

Kevin O'Donnell
c/o Odyssey Middle School
Ms. Flake's Geography Class
9290 Lee Vista Blvd.
Orlando, FL 32829
Not sure what to say: Here is the type of information we're looking for:

Climate Information
Local Landmarks
What people do for a living
Local new stories (write something about what is currently taking place in the area)
Anything related to Geography
Thank you so much for your help and we will try to let you know how we did.

Thanks

Pigsty333 That sounds like a great class project. I will try to find an appropriate post card and send one out. Glad we have until December as I can get quit pokey...

I'll be going to the post office later, and would be glad to help Kevin and his class out!! I think its a great idea!

You might want to also post it on the community board?

phorsenuf ,

that is just too funny!! LOL! what a great idea! if you have alot of ppl that are willing to do that you should have someone send him one EVERY WEEK! i am going nov 4 - 11, and would be happy to send him on if you need me to.

ps, you have got to let us know if this works!!

What a cute idea, phorsenuf! Looks like you'll have plenty of postcards for your DH, but if you'd like more, PM me and I'll send one during our Oct. 19-26 trip and during our Dec. 8-11 trip. Let me know who his favorite characters are, too.

We'll also send postcards from Chicago, and our families in New York, New Orleans and Nebraska to your DS, pigsty333. Great way to learn about the world around you!

Hi Cathy.........
I was supposed to go a couple of weeks ago when you first posted this request, but because of Ivan I didn't go, but I am going Oct. 7/8/9/10 so I promise I will do it then.............unless of course ANOTHER storm heads this way. I do have your husbands address I hope it won't be to late............ I still think it's a great idea.

Post card is on the way to your husband but it might take a little while with the weather here in Orlando.

My son is thrilled with the amount of cards he is getting.

Thank you to each and every one of you who have taken the time to help him out with this assignment.

It will take me a while posting where they are coming from, since the hurricanes are putting a damper on everything, including our mail. We are supposed to get hit by Jeanne around Sunday morning, so school will probably be closed again this Monday. We have lost 10 school days so far. We used no "Bad Weather Days" last year and we have use all of our allotted ones for this year and some. Kids have to be in the schools for so many extra days - we are giving up part of Thanksgiving, Christmas and Summer vacation.

Keep those cards coming. They really need a morale booster. It goes on all the way through May, so send more than one, whenever you remember him.

Have you posted on the UK community thread?

good luck, and here's hoping, enough HURRICANES already!! Its amazing... we close due to inclement weather - BLIZZARDS!! uggg

I meant to put these question on the POP thread not as a new thread.

going at the end of OCT is pool going to be warm enough??

thanks Brooke

We posted on all the boards - UK, Canadian, etc.

Thank you for sending the cards in. Keep them coming.

Hurricane Jeanne, please be gentle to us. We are tired and can't take anymore.
