I have a SPG amex card and a preferred plus SPG card. I have inquired a couple of times about being upgraded to gold and was told that you only get preferred plus with the amex.
My dh recently got his own SPG card because he travels for business and we wanted to be able to accumulate points for the times he travels alone....no Amex, he uses mine. I went online to book his "first" trip with the new card, he has gold status. How can that be, he has no points or stays yet?
My other question is......can we at some point combine our points for a family vacation? If we can, are we better off to transfer them to his account because somehow, he got to be gold?
