We are going for 4 nights January 15-19. Is there a specific area of the resort that I should request? is there construction? I don't really want to be near that if I can avoid it. Prefer to be close to the best bus stop, etc. (I DO realize even if I request a building that it's not guaranteed that i'll get it).

thanks for any info any of you can provide. :)

I have no idea where on the resort property the current construction is being done - last Iheard it was the computer pool and up next is the Hippy Dippy pool, but I could be wrong (it happens every once in a while :upsidedow).

On that note I always request the 50's section. Even the farthest building in that section isn't a bad walk to the main building. Last visit we were able to watch illuminations from our beds and if we wanted we could have walked a short distance to catch the fireworks at the Studios. We were also lucky enough to be 2 rooms away from the preferred rooms - huge bonus as we were there for 12 nights.

The 70's section is also very close as is the 60's but a large portion of those sections are preferred.

The yellow highlight in this photo will show you the preferred areas and general resort layout.

@Mickey's Best Girl has given you some great info . . . love that map! I also request 50s section Bldg 3 because the walk is doable & I have a chance of seeing fireworks at least from the outside walkway. I have also been placed in 60s Bldg 4 (convenient walk but not much view of the fireworks because of the trees/bush) and 70s Bldg 6 (OK walk but no real view of fireworks). Over the past few years, I have rarely been given the 50s section that I have requested online. I check-in at the front desk (Cdn guest so must go to front desk on arrival), discover I have been placed eg in the far reaches of the 80s . . . so then politely ask for the 50s. Usually the CM can make the switch to the 50s or 60s.

Another good additional request is top floor. If no mobility issues, the top floor is not as noisy esp at night because no guests overhead.

I just checked out this morning. My only requests were top floor, lake view. I had a great location in Building 4 on the opposite side from the Hippy Dippy pool. It was quiet, but it was very convenient for going to Classic Hall or walking over to AoA. From what I understand, the room renovations have been pushed back to February. If you read the disclaimer on Disney's website, it mentions the Computer pool first, then Hippy Dippy, then the other renovations to start after that (with the mention that requests for specific buildings can't be guaranteed). I would make your requests specifically for what you want, such as "near transportation" or "lake view" or whatever is important to you but then allow Disney to select the building. I usually have pretty good luck if I request it that way.

Probably important to point out to a new Pop visitor that doing this exposes you to anyone walking by your room :)
Yes,the only "Fireworks" that need to be happening at that time are the ones from Epcot!lol:)

I stayed in the 90s section, in a room that faced the parking lot on the highest floor. It was a quick walk around the walkway or through the parking lot to the bus stops and main building. I walked around the entire resort and over to AoA every morning and all the way around that then back to my room and I was pushing to make the walk last a half hour (what I need to register on my heart rate monitor for an insurance discount) so that wasn't even a brisk walk. I would think anywhere you stay isn't really that far from the bus stop.
