Well, it's right smack in the middle of Elvis Week here in Memphis, and throngs of tourists are descending on us to remember him this weekend, and especially Monday. I think that the line to pass his grave last year during the candlelight vigil was almost 5 hours long..

I've never had so much fun people watching before in my life!


P.S. Wish me well tomorrow, I'm running my first 5K EVER...the Elvis Run, where they encourage participants to dress up and remember "The King." How hilarious is that?

Good luck in the 5k, it looks like great weather for it.
I saw the fattest ever Elvis impersonator last night at the casinos..... 5' 4" and had to be 300 lbs, decked out in a custom made white jumpsuit with rhinestones and boots and had perfect Elvis hair and shades.
...... only in Memphis

oh how i long for the hot days of summer as a graceland tour guide...of course there is no such thing now with the prerecorded stuff. i can still hear todd morgan giving us a pre-vigil prayer and i tried not to laugh(as jimmy buffett said b4 he sold out-you had to be there)... watching people faint going down the driveway on a hot, memphis august nite will imprinted on my brain forever. and the best thing of all, i got paid to see it.

a side note, i really respect elvis. he actually did a lot of good for his family, friends, and community. there are some fans(who mainly show up during what everyone calls "dead elvis week")whose lives(and sometimes unfortunately their families) revolve around a dead man. and as elvis said, there is only one true king, and that is Jesus Christ.

BTW, i never went upstairs to the bathroom
