Ok,

For years I have suffered badly from Cold Sores on my lips when I'm stressed, run down or the cold weather kicks in, but......I've been cold sore free for a year now!

Last August we went to WDW and I was just armed with good old Zovirax.

By accident I took an old tube with me and it ran out so I went to a chemist and they recommended LYSINE tablets.

LYSINE - "an indespensable amino acid that cannot be made by the body".

The tablets are HUGE and should be taken with food when you start feeling the effects. I think you can buy them in health food stores but they are tons cheaper in the US.

My best friend suffers badly from these, thank you for posting. I will pass it on! The things you learn on a Disney board ;)

I suffer badly from cold sores - ended up in hospital once when one took over my whole, face - eyes included!!

Think I'll give this a go.......

DD will be interested in this (although as she finds swallowing even the tiniest tablets tricky, I'm not sure how these 'HUGE' ones will appeal to her! ).

She also finds the sunshine brings them out, so is pretty much guaranteed to get one in Florida. Last trip we picked up a pot of 'Carmex' out there which seemed to work well, and which we've since discovered in Superdrug here. I think sometimes it's beneficial to change to a different treatment to zap a recurring problem - takes things unawares ;)

Thanks for the tip.

i agree you sometimes need to change creams::yes:: i had used zovirax so much it eneded up not doing anything:rolleyes: then a shop assistant in boot's told me about their own brand 'cold sore lotion' it works really well for me but it sure stings when you put it on:D my son who get them has to have antibiotics when they break out as he has got a low immune system

me and jack always get them on our lips when we are in the sun

Hi there folks glad to see I am not the only one whos suffers with cold sores :( I can go for ages and not have one then have them one after the other for months :( I only use Zovirax and find that it works very well (other than drying out the area you use the cream  )
I will definitely try your recommendation, thanks for that
