I'm putting together this years haunted house for our base. It's going to be the only base haunted house event, so they want me to make it HUGE.

It's in a big empty picnic pavillion, which means I have to find a way to build temporary walls to seperate the rooms. I was thinking of building braces with 2x4's and then just stapling black tarps to them instead of sheetrock, plaster, whatever.

Can any of you think of ways to do this? Or any cheaper, safer, ways to build walls? They gave me a budget of 2500, but I'm trying to stay under 1000. What do you think?

Can you get bales of straw to stack as walls, and then donate them to to a local agency or livestock owner in the area?

In the past when various units here have done this, they have used 2-3 of the large troop tents.

If you use the 2x4 temp walls you will have to attach them to the floor and ceiling. They may not appreciate you nailing/bolting these to the floor if it is concrete. Is there any other public facility where you can borrow things? Sometimes schools, churches, meeting facilities will have movable walls/partitions and maybe you could borrow those for the few weeks. Just cover them with fabric or tarps so they won't get ruined.

How about just seperating the rooms with black sheets. Make it darker and more creepy, but easy to take down once your done.
