WOW your lucky!!!! In California we pay around 10% depending where you live for state tax on everything your buy, income tax, disability, property tax, high car registration fees, one of the highest gas price just shy under $4, deposit fees for drinks, extra fees for trash, if you buy a TV or any electronics, and they are talking of us paying for fees to help the state get out of it's overspending. Oh.. and most citites and counties now also charge if they come out for anything for any type of fire/ paramedic services.

We pay all of that except my gas is still over $4 a gallon. I'll give you thehigher income tax & sales tax but we beat out the rest plus your property tax is capped ours is not. If they want to raise our house taxes 200% they can & have in some cases.
