Hmmm, where to begin!

Well, for starters the welcome bread. Then the sticky chicken wings, salad, potstickers, turkey and steak skewers, all the dipping sauces and finally the bread pudding with caramel sauce and ice cream! I didn't care for the noodles but then again I'm not a noodle person. My family thought they were delish though!:goodvibes

I have to eat here! We are not on the DDP this trip, so my TS meals are cut down to two. Ohana's and Chef Mickeys. I can't wait.

Last time I went they had the Fried wonton chips with the dipping sauce, scalloped potatoes. It was all delicious. The Bread pudding was awesome. I haven't been with the new menu. We all liked it. It was a great place for a huge family gathering which is what we had. It was reasonably priced for everyone. The kids loved the entertainment (I could leave that part). However, there are so many restaurants at WDW that this isn't on our list of repeats.

I like everything except the noodles and potatoes.

That said, I think you're operating off an old menu. The sauces are potatoes are no longer offered, the shrimp is now grilled (you do peel it), and the dessert is bread pudding with bananas foster sauce and vanilla ice cream.

We really enjoy Ohana and the view of Wishes from the restaurant. My favorite thing of all is the dessert. :lovestruc It is fantastic!

Thanks for your opinion on the dessert! As for the old menu items, I am hoping to find out if people like them or the new menu items more. For instance, do people like the noodles or the potatoes more, although this poll may not accomplish that. I am not an expert at poll-design :rotfl2:

I rushed posting the poll (hence the typo) and I forgot the most important thing to me: I am wondering if people would still like Ohana if it was not served all-you-can-eat family style.

So for those who read this far, is the value of a dinner at Ohana a big reason you love it? Or would you still love it if the portion sizes were limited to one appetizer, entree, and dessert per person?

Well, I wasn't crazy about the potatoes and don't like the noodles either. The fresh pineapple dessert came with caramel sauce. That was good if you got ripe pineapple. At least one time that we ate there, we got rock hard, sour pineapple that was inedible. It must definitely be easier for the kitchen to control the quality of the bread pudding dessert over one featuring fresh fruit.

The first time we went in 1999, we had a serving of smoked salmon with the meal. It was the warm salmon--not the cold lox type. That was very good. I never tried the wonton chips, but I liked the steamed dumplings (wontons?) better than the fried ones they serve now.

Also, the vegetables were a bigger mix the first few times we ate there. Both times we ate there in 2008, the veggies were strictly snow peas and broccoli with lots of garlic. It was tasty--I love garlic--but I preferred the mix of those with peppers, mushrooms, bok choy and baby corn cobs stir fried with soy sauce.

I like that it is family style, all you can eat. You can get more of whatever items what you want to eat more of. There are plenty of regular table service menus and lots of buffets. I like that Disney offers a mix of serving styles.

For us the best were the welcome bread, chicken wings, fried wonton chips and of course the desert.

We love to have dinner at Ohana's especially for the chicken wings, the steak and the dessert.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts!

It looks like the dessert is the big winner here. Followed closely by the meats (and shrimp) and then the ambience.

The salad and bread looks popular, too!

I love the noodles, salad, potstickers, and chicken wings. The dessert is to die for!!! Though the meats were good I can get them anywhere. We loved it so much we did it two nights in a row. Can't wait to go in Oct. Yummmmmmm

When we first started talking about planning out upcoming trip..my DH, DD and I all wanted our first Disney meal to be at Ohana's! We all  it..our favorite is the bread pudding, the meats, adn the chicken wings...I am sooo sad the took the potatoes away!!! :sad1:

Hi:
We have never been to 'Ohana and have a question. Is it all you can eat?
I assume they bring you more meat as requested but will they bring you more salad and/or chicken wings?
Also, how were the servers? I have read mixed reviews from great to terrible?
Thanks for the info

Ohana is our first night tradition, we must eat there every trip. According to Allears, the potatos are back on the menu:cool1:you have a choice between them & the noodles which we don't really care for.

Our servers have never been that great there, but the atmosphere makes up for the ho-hum service. We always schedule our meal around the time for Wishes, it's a great experience watching fireworks with dinner & also the Electric Water Pagent goes by around the same time.
