For all the single men over 40.....

Well, my house currently has 4 dogs, 3 cats, 2 birds, and 2 large fish tanks (one fresh water, one salt water). Overall, I don't prefer dogs or cats. But at different times, I do prefer one or the other. No 70lb dog on the lap when watching a movie, but a cat is fine. But the cats don't do well on a leash going for a walk, don't play tug-o-war, and don't know to always lick my face when I'm feeling down.



From reading some of your posts, I'm thinking it'd be easy to laugh at you.

Apparently I was a comedian in a past life cause I do like it when people laugh at me. . .I even make fun of myself (especially the falling and drink spilling issues. . .) just to get a laugh. . .lol

I recall reading somewhere once where industrious Russian men were in such short supply that single Russian women would deliberately break stuff to get the local handyman to spend more time at their apt. Can't impress him if he's never there.

No kids at home: One that will be on her own soon
loves dogs: I like non-yippy dogs but prefer a cat
Cooks: I don't mind cooking
Cleans: Not a sp1c-n-span type (darn filter) but I clean my place
Capable of channel changing: Yep
Doesn't change channel every 33 sec: I hate when people do that
Bodily function sounds contests: Depends how many beers I've had
Mirror: Longest spent in front of a mirror is shaving
Can look in mirror: Yep, hard to trim nose hairs otherwise
Sense of humor: Used to have one, trying to get it back

I'm starting to feel guilty after reading this...lol Last year I had a plumber, a guy who had to wear hip boots to drain my basement, an electrician, a computer guy, and my ex over to put in a new door... The only thing missing was a lawn boy I think.

I haven't been on this part of the Disboards in a long time and today I drop in and find this fun thread. I want to play too!

Single - Yep. Can't give on this one. I am a big believer in "completely finish one relationship before starting the next."

Wealthy - Umm, I wish I was wealthy. Since that won't happen in this lifetime, I don't care as long as the man is working and happy.

over 40 - This is the part that dragged me in. I realized today that I will be 38 in 2 months. When did that happen? Age isn't that important to me except I can't go a lot younger. It makes me feel older.

no kids at home - Hmmm. Don't know how I feel about this one. I don't have kids and don't ever plan on having my own. That being said, I wouldn't stop seeing someone because he had kids.

loves dogs - Don't care much on this one. I love dogs and appreciate cats but I have no pets right now. I just realized, I don't even have a plant. maybe I should revisit the kid question. I'm beginning to think that the universe is tellling me I shouldn't be responsible for anything living.

cooks - I cook. It would be great if he did too so we could share but...dining out is great too.

cleans - YES! I don't. I am a bad, bad housekeeper. Although, I did see someone say they wouldn't do bathrooms. That is the one room I am a fanatic about. I can't stand a dirty bathroom so I keep it really clean.

capable of changing the channel on the tv - Don't care.

does NOT change the channel every 33 seconds -- Ok, this one I do care about. Find a show and watch it. That's all I'm saying.

does not engage in contests that involve bodily function sounds - Umm...no comment?

does not spend more time in front of the mirror than me - Don't care. I am a stage manager for theatre and am around actors who do a LOT of looking in the mirror. I guess I'm numb to it.

knows to look in the mirror (check hair, remove t/p from shaving nicks) - Except one day a week. That's pj day and you don't even have to comb your hair if you don't want (although you DO have to brush your teeth.)

has a sense of humor, or at least appreciates and recognizes mine - Yep. Gotta have it. Life is too much without one.

I'd also like to add (in case the universe is listening and planning to send me this man for Valentine's Day): love of Disney (may go without saying on this board but still) and the ability to put up with my schedule. Live theatre makes for weird working times.

My slight changes to the above:
-I will be 37 in a matter of days. *groan*
-I like dogs, but haven't had one in quite some time. I have a princess cat named Prozac.
-Clean: yeah, I like clean. I really can't stand a mess. Of course, that said, my desk at home is a mess - more like "organized chaos". It will be cleaned soon.
-I don't work in theater, but I highly enjoy my Broadway plays!

hahaha...my roommates have leashes for their cats...even saw them try them in the back yard once. That was about a year ago, and I don't think I've seen those leashes since.

I have a cat of course. Hence the reason the leash thing was so funny. I can't even make her get in the cat carrier. . .ROFLMAO. . .

does NOT change the channel every 33 seconds - Very rarely watches TV
does not engage in contests that involve bodily function sounds - True
does not spend more time in front of the mirror than me - True
knows to look in the mirror (check hair, remove t/p from shaving nicks) - True (no shaving nicks, use electric razor)
has a sense of humor, or at least appreciates and recognizes mine - Have very weird sense of humor, so did Judy
And still have a full head of hair and all teeth (except one pulled by Army many years ago)
