What's the verdict? Do you love it? Hate it? Love it and hate it?

So far I am loving it. Listening to Pandora on it as I type. Battery life has been as good or better than Apple's claims, iBooks is very nice, video streams and looks great. Has hardly been out of my hands since I got it a couple of days ago.

I'm having difficulty with the Wi-Fi connection ... the router is way up in DH's office and I stay down in our basement most of the time, so I lose connection frequently.

Other than that, I like the iBook reader OK but prefer my Kindle. I'm a writer and I spend 8 hours a day on a computer. Looking at the backlit screen is hard on my eyes. The Kindle's matte screen and paper-like font and coloring are a bit easier to read.

Video is awesome and the apps are fantastic (although pricey). This is DH's test model for his work -- I've pre-ordered the 3G model for myself since I travel often.

Would the IPad be a good option for a kid going off to college in the fall?

I am in love with mine. I paired my Apple bluetooth keyboard earlier and with the updates coming in OS 4.0 I have a legitimate laptop replacement.

It is a little annoying all the attention this thing generates. Every seems to want to touch it.
