Out of the blue, my parents called me and said they had been researching DVC. I was thrilled they were pondering this. Turns out they were researching it for me! They think I should become a DVC owner. First off, the fact my father thinks I should buy AnYThinG is amazing.

I'm wondering if they have an alterior motive. Like, disuading me from buying my RV. They'd never admit to that.

Anyway. Here I am, trying to make a decision. If $$$ were not a problem, (that is not the case, but...) what would you do? Forego DVC and stick w/ FW exclusively, or split it, one year FW, next year DVC. Or, (the horror!) DVC exclusively?

Just curious as to your thoughts. Thanks! :sunny:

Hello Vicki

We are DVC Members and have been so since 1997. We would go to OKW at least 4 to 5 times and year and thoroughly enjoyed our stays. The 1 bedroom units are just great. Well worth our purchase. Now the other side...
We have not been back to OKW to stay for awhile. Since we got our MH, we enjoy the convenience of having our HOME on WHEELS with us so much and FW itself, that we have simply not had the desire to use our points. Because of our location we go to FW once a month as long as nothing interferes with the timing.
If $$ were not a problem, having both could be lots of fun. Experiencing the numerous DVC Resorts can be an adventure in itself.

Don't know if I can do this, but if you would like to try a DVC stay PM me.

We looked into DVC a couple of years ago, since we go to Disney at least once a year anyway. Since we already have a camper and like going to FW, we decided it wasn't worth the money to us. I am not a real time share fan anyway. Personally, I would spend the money on the RV since I get a lot more use out of it on weekends and other vacation trips.

We are DVC members also. We enjoy staying at the Lodge villas every couple years the rooms are wonderful. BUT We still stay at FW a couple times a year. We use both, if it came down to money though, I would invest in the one that you feel you would get the most use out of. It is so nice to have all the conveniences of home when you stay in an RV and you do not half to lug stuff into a room and then back to your vehicle when it is time to leave.

We've considered DVC a few times through the years, and every time we come to the same conclusion - it just wouldn't be worth it for us.

DVC is great if you usually stay at a Deluxe resort when you go to Disney. The price of DVC, coupled with the annual dues, is pretty high - and would only be worth it if we normally spent that much staying at a Deluxe property.

But, we like to stay at FW. And, the times we do stay at another resort, it's usually when there's a special price - we never spend more than $200/night.

Personally, if we could afford a nice motorhome - we would pick that over DVC. Much more freedom to go where you want to go (gasp - even a non-Disney vacation!) LOL
