For a honeymoon dinner at Victoria &alberts, should we eat in the main dining room or

Hello!

For the wedding of two of my friends a bunch of us got together and pooled our gift resources to send them to V&A's while on their honeymoon. They sat at the chef's table and had an absolutely wonderful experience. V&A's is great any time, and in any location, but this is your honeymoon! Live it up if you can.

We ate in the main room and felt like we didn't miss out on anything! We decided to do the wine pairing as our splurge. Best meal EVER!

You can't go wrong either way. Do you want a 6-7 course meal with more options among courses or 12-ish courses that are more pre-set? The QV room is more intimate, but I think the main dining room is a bit more attractive overall.

Either way, it would be a wonderful choice for a honeymoon dinner; certainly the best place anywhere in the area and very near the top of my personal favorite restaurants anywhere. I'm going again in a few days and can't stop thinking about it!

I agree with the PP about doing the wine pairings, whether you're a wine novice or an oenophile. However, they have an outstanding wine list with some ultra-splurge selections that are actually "bargains". Some of their rare/older wines are even below current retail prices.

I know there is a pretty big price difference between the Main Dining Room and the Chef's Table and Victoria Room.
So I guess it is how much you want to splurge.
We've eaten in the Main Room twice and it was awesome. Did think about the Chef's Table for this October's trip until I saw the price difference.

We tried the Queen Victoria roon in February. While it has been described as "intimate", we found it to be just the opposite. 4 tables in a very small room made it feel very close, and private conversation was not possible, as servers were in and out at different times for each party. We are glad to have tried it, but we won't hurry back to the QV room. The Chefs Table was a much more enjoyable experience for us.

We ate in the QV room before it was "The QV Room" - that's just where we ended up getting seated. Initially I was a smidge put off by being put in a side room (we sat to the left side of the fireplace if you're looking in from the entrance), a bit concerned that we'd be forgotten, but I got over that pretty quickly when the service began :rotfl: Everything was perfect and our servers were wonderful and remarked about how they loved our enthusiasm. We didn't have any issues with conversation but then again we were so excited we were probably the ones being obnoxious... :rolleyes1 No one told us to pipe down so we must not have been that bad.
