And, tomorrow for us is our departure day. So excited. 1326 miles to Disney, two nights on road, and the magic begins. Four nights at the Beach Club, CL, then to our home away from home, 7 nights at Fort Wilderness. We will be the cheeseheads with the cow, milk can, and laughter!

There's nothing like a departure to WDW. For us, the magic begins as soon as we turn on our vehicle's ignition. :wizard:

All the best! :thumbsup2

I stayed at okw a few times. :lmao: before all the construction, it was a non stop trip to the dock near raglan. :thumbsup2

Yes, they will have a DVD available. I'm getting one, I can copy it for you I'm sure. If you really wanted to buy one, the website if firebirdtheatre.net. If you're not busy, there's plenty of tix at the door. :goodvibes

We are ALL getting old - it's those darn kids. They keep growing up and bringing us along with them. Mike keeps telling them to just stop, and we'll all be fine.

We went to a family party recently and all of the cousins were sitting together just talking and catching up. We realized that we were talking about healthcare, aches and pains, cars breaking down. We became our parents!! :rotfl:

I still say it was T!!!!! :lmao: we can get our aarp card next year. :lmao:

Well I'm already sad. We are leaving Saturday morning. It doesn't matter how long you've been here it's always hard to leave.
We'll stop somewhere in VA for the night not sure where yet.

Understood.

Since we usually leave around 9 a.m. for our ride home we expect to at least make it to Emporia; Petersburg is better and Ashland is even better. But in order to avoid the expected northern VA-southern MD traffic jams, we have driven straight-thru to home the last couple of times. We arrived home like zombies but avoided the brutal daytime I-95 traffic.

Enough of this drive-home talk business...enjoy your day at WDW!

All the best. :thumbsup2

Thanks! We usually stop in Fredericksburg. That gives us about an 8-9 hour drive the next morning, and were home early afternoon. Hoping for an easy drive.

Noob here....I have driven to Fla a bunch of times but never to Disney. Especially driving a Motorhome and kids aboard. (insert headache).
Besides getting out of NY more specifically off LI, is there a sticky on tips for when we hit route 4 coming into town? Any help is appreciated. Especially leave times from NY.:goodvibes

Thinking about driving to WDW from CT in February 2015. Will be bringing our two grandsons 7 & 14. Wondering how it will go in our 2014 Fusion. Just not sure they will have enough room in the back of this car. We stepped down from Taurus to Fusion last month. I like the car, but not sure about the space. I am looking at 10 hours each day. I expect to head out 84 west to 81 South connecting to 95 in South Carolina.

Anyway, just wondering how it will go with the boys. I know the way down will be best, as they will be excited about where we are heading. The way home may be a long trip though.

Thanks for "listening".

Not trying to convince you one way or the other, and I know kids are different these days, but when I was young we made a few trips to Florida from Wisconsin in one of these.

Parents, three boys, and luggage. Nonstop. Only stopping twice for meals and potty breaks (same stops) and any necessary gas stops. (At least, that's how I remember it.) Those were the days...

Driving on 95N near Fredericksburg Virginia now, traffic on 95S has been really bad for miles now. Good luck to anyone headed that way from points north!

Yikes! :crazy2:
But no surprise, really. That's why we usually pass that area heading south between 1 and 2 a.m.

Good luck.

All the best! :thumbsup2

We will be leaving the Philly area on December 29th heading to the Disney with a few side stops. December 30th and 31st we will be in Charleston SC then leaving Jan 1 to head too St. Augustine for one night. Jan 2nd driving the coast to Coco beach then into Orlando. We check into Disney on Sat. Jan 3rd for a week. Does anyone have any good tips for driving. We are heading straight down 95 since we are only a few minutes from it. Trying to figure out timing so we do not hit traffic in DC, VA area.:hourglass

We live about 5 minutes from Philly and we always leave at 4 am to beat that DC VA traffic. Around 9 am we stop for breakfast which is about the time we get into VA. Let rush hour die down and get going again.
