I noticed gas prices went up a penny around here. Have they gone up more anywhere else lately?

I need to pack!!!

We leave at 3 a.m. Tuesday morning and I haven't packed anything! And I work all day tomorrow, because of the 8 snow days we had they moved the last professional development day to tomorrow.

DH is changing the oil and doing the brakes on the car right now :)

Guess I better get started!!

well it has been interesting around here. it was in the lower 3.70 range and it fell to the mid 3.60 range and I got gas Saturday afternoon and it was in the mid 3.70s again. all this in a three week time. :confused3 I know the heating oil dealers are scrambling which generally isn't a good sign. it is a different business then gas but it will be interesting to watch.

Gas in Hunterdon County NJ is $3.49 a gallon. Right off the PA turnpike around Fort Washington, it's $3.64.

I wish the increase was only a penny! Most jumped 8-11 cents this weekend. I saw a low of 3.43 (cash price), but most are around 3.49 now (for cash or credit).

I paid $3.39 (cash) in Clifton yesterday, and there were 3 or 4 stations at the same price, of course 2 weeks ago those same stations were $3.29!

After traveling around the area the last couple weeks since the I-495 closure in DE, I wanted to let folks know that southern end of I-295 in NJ is being effected (I know, really?). Seems like some folks are hopping over from PA based upon the amount of traffic on Rt. 322 that is then exiting onto 295 S.

Probably worth the few bucks more to stay on the NJTP for folks who are passing through, though you may still feel the effect right as the merge happens at the Delaware Memorial Bridge. :headache:

Safe travels all!

Looking for a list of good clean safe hotels right off of i95 between Walterboro sc and Brunswick, GA. I am looking to spend about $100. Its just a place to sleep so the real concern is safety cleanliness and proximity to I95. Any helpful info is much appreciated!!! TIA!!!!

I stay at Hampton inns and have not found a bad one yet off of i95. we don't stop often but we have hit five or six different ones over the years. I have stayed at Walterboro sc Hampton inn and it was fine.
as far as safety, if we stop, we leave the hotel no later then 4am. we only take in a small bag and our pillows. I let dw stand in the lobby while I go get the car and bring it around to the front of the hotel. throw the bags in the car and go. keep in mind you are stopping along a major interstate that is full of travelers stopping over night. be aware of your surroundings when staying in any hotel. if its late at night or early in the am, limit your time outside. look around before you start walking out a hotel at night. most are well lit. \
same way at gas stations at night. stopping at a gas station in the middle of the night isn't always the safest thing to do but has to be done. I have gotten off and got back on the interstate because the station just didn't look right. again, I don't putts around, I get out, do what I got to do and go. I pay at the pump and head out. always have my eyes moving.

if we have to rearrange anything in the car or put something away, I wait till day break and do it in a rest stop.

To follow up on dvczerfs comment, I've stayed at the Hampton Inn at I-95 Savannah, GA area...they host police dog trainers there. I imagine, that's about as safe as one can get...with all the German Shepherds around... Exit 109, Port Wentworth in GA.

We drove to Colonial Williamsburg via a side trip to Mount Vernon today, a kind of reminder that no one in his/her right mind should ever drive through northern VA on I-95 during rush hour to get to WDW! Ever!

[And the construction on I-95 in MD south of the harbor tunnel is no treat, we assure you.]

We left Mount Vernon and reached I-95 around 4 p.m. near MM 163. For the next 90 minutes, we covered about 20 miles, frequently making full stops in the bumper-to-bumber traffic. The slow moving traffic did not ease up until we passed Fredericksburg! Ugh.

When we make our WDW drive in August, we will be passing the same area but about 1 a.m.

As the Winnie the Pooh ride states: "Beware...Beware!"

All the best. :thumbsup2

Thank you for the heads up. When I've had the time, I've been watching that area during the weekdays on a traffic map. Always bogging down. I was considering going that way (270/495/95) because I wouldn't be going through at rush hour. But it would be midday....and it still slows up.

I wish I was paying 3.49. It went from 3.59-3.60.
It's usually cheaper on our way down anyway.

Strangely about half of the 14 or so stations I pass every day now lowered their prices by a few cents. So they stayed higher only for Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Maybe it was a weekend thing?

:thumbsup2 Thanks BC, we have driven straight through during the night but are thinking of a 10 am departure this year. We are renting a house for the first four days before our stay at OKW. We can get in the house as soon as we arrive because the key will be in a lock box. What are your thoughts on a 10 am departure?

Hi Neighbor and welcome to the best thread on the DIS!

We've done the drive from our area at least a dozen times so I'm probably your best best for info and advice at least until Northern Delaware on 95.

Are you driving on a weekday or weekend? We have found that the best bet for us is leaving around 9 am. It gets us into DC around 11:30, and through Richmond by 2:00 in the afternoon so it always avoids rush hour. On a summer weekend, that won't work, you need to leave around 4 am.

We have found that the quickest route is to pick up the Blue Route around Villanova, we cut over from 422 at KoP, I think it's up Eagle School Road then hit 30. It's a little quicker than going all the way down the Schuylkill to Conshohocken.

Let me know anything else you'd like to know. We lived in Cranberry Estates for 5 years before we moved to Limerick to get into the school district, PV wasn't working for us since our DS has autism. S-F has been much better.

good morning all!!!!!

DD!!! are you still here or did you leave yet???

looong week of work for me this past week. it was the first "heat" we had around here that people turned there a/c on and remembered it made a funny noise when we shut it off last fall. :lmao:

hope everyone has a good weekend and safe travels to everyone heading south! :thumbsup2

(hi bc..... hi Sharon!)

Hi Dave,

Bought a new/used vehicle this weekend, cash. Oh we are bleeding money lately, hope your a/c can make it through the summer.

We really like the Country Inn and Suites at Savannah, GA. It's always been a good experience for us.

We used to like the Microtel in Walterboro but haven't been there in a few years so not sure if it's still good. Boring breakfast though.

Have you gone through the Tripadvisor reviews? I like to read them and average it all out.

It's even quicker to pick up 476 at Nova if you go down Warner Ave (runs parallel to Old Eagle School Rd) to Croton Rd to King of Prussia Rd.

We just moved out of Spring Ford last week. Building a house in Quakertown that will add to our Disney drive but not too much.
