Hi, I actually took a look at the records and I have one for you. In 2000 Dave and I took my family down there.....20 of us!!! We rented a 15 passenger and fit 12 people in the van, plus 3 other cars.

It was a Dodge, 3500 RAM, my husband believes. We rented it from the Dodge company near our home. It was January of 2000

I just barely qualify for this thread! Our round trip drive will be 2060 miles. We will be driving down for spring break in late March and I'm looking for some traffic tips. We are coming from Akron, OH, down 77 to 95. Right now, we are thinking of leaving Thursday night and stopping in Beckley, WV. Then driving another 10 hours Friday and spending the night in Jacksonville. That would leave us with only about 3 hours the next morning. I've been hearing horror stories about the traffic down 95. Any thoughts? Does this sound like a good plan? We will be traveling with a 6, 8, and 9 yr old who are great car riders. We drive 12 hrs to Myrtle every year with no issues.

Since 2002, we have driven thirty-one times on I-95 from NJ to FL and have only experienced two "horror stories": driving through the greater DC area at rush hour (never again!) and waiting a long time for a traffic accident to be cleared miles ahead in VA.

Once you reach Jacksonville, your I-95 drive will only be about two hours until you reach I-4. Remember: avoid both interstates at rush hour. However, I-4 always seems to have occasional traffic clusters.

Must be our mayor's fault for dropping the Groundhog.

Can't wait for our next drive in April (same month as BC). I was just telling dh last night. This time we will have the DS (5) and DD (5mos).

Only thing keeping me sane is APRIL!!!!

Charlotte can be bypassed and there are two ways around Columbia. Suggest finding radio stations with traffic reports for those two cities. GPS with traffic alerts didn't work for us.

Yes come on April!! I am so sick of winter. We are getting a blizzard tonight 8-10 in.
However we do leave for Disney on Tuesday. just not driving. ( driving down in April)

Thanks for the info. I think we might drive all the way to Orlando on day 2 and just get a cheap hotel somewhere. I-95 S shouldn't be an issue at 9-10pm.

How is I-95 N thru FL as you leave WDW? Is it better to leave late afternoon versus early morning?

FYI, just drove to North Carolina, Charlotte. Left midnight Friday morning and got here Friday by 2:30. The highway was a mess from Connecticut through Virginia. Rigs off to the side of the road, bad accidents, but the funniest things were all the snowmen we saw. I think people made them the night before when they were stopped because of the accidents.

So if you are coming down to Disney this weekend, please travel carefully.

It's definite! We're headed back to the house of mouse in August! The trip went so well last time that we're driving again from SE Mass! Although, I'll drive to South Caroline on day 1, with a shorter drive on day 2. Can't wait to get to work planning!

We're going to drive 1200 miles each way in November. We flew last month and my Wife said on the way back "I bought you that nice car, we need to drive it more". Is there a category for 'highest horsepower car on a 2000 mile round trip'? 600 HP means I will get to know the gas stations down 75!

It slowed down a bit just south of Baltimore due to construction, but it wasn't bad. I'd like to make it it SC this time. I wasn't tired when stopped in NC and could have driven another 2-3 hours. I'm looking at stopping in Selma, SC this time.

Yeah we usually stop in Fayetteville NC which isn't that far from SC so I think we can do it.
