We've decided to skip most of i95 this trip..can anyone tell me the route instead? Coming from western Mass.. I'm going to have to force my GPS to recalculate so I want to know where I am going..lol

traveling from St Louis in September with DD4 DS9 and DH. first roadtrip with the kiddos...ANY advise on where to stop. Going to stop and stay over on the trip down, and then maybe drive straight through on the way home?

Chattanooga is ~1/2 way & has a lot of neat attractions if you have the time for it (aquarium is very nice, Rock City, Lookout Mtn, Ruby Falls). If you're looking to go further on day 1, I'd suggest getting past Atlanta. Watch for Braves games so you don't wind up showing up just as they're letting out, and definitely avoid Atlanta rush hour. It's twice as bad as STL. Nashville is about 1/2 as bad as STL. Avoid if possible, but not a catastrophe if you can't.

Sadly we are not leaving until I get out of work at 1:30am on the 15th...

my wife and i will be there till the 22nd! if you want to meet up and say hi, let me know. (were not wackos, you can ask a few people on here that we have met.) well, dont ask sharon, im not sure what she will say! :lmao:

Can vouch, lol, You have to actually meet the person that would drive/trips 51 times. :worship:

Like saying hello to an old friend, not only that, it is always a good idea knowing someone in the area. We are just getting back from a cruise on the 9th, so not in the area that trip.
Thinking of a June trip yet...budget, just to use the AP again.

:rotfl: Both Dave and Tammy are lovely people. Actually, Tammy is a saint! And she trusts that all these women that Dave texts with are actually DISboard friends. We've even stayed next door to each other - one of the funniest things ever :lmao: We were relegated to the AP discount lowest floor at the Contemporary theme park view rooms! Oh, and they raised an absolutely lovely, wonderful young woman.

Beyond that, I just can't say :rotfl:

For the past 18 trips we have driven the 2400 miles round trip. Personally I love the drive. For me it is part of the vacation and enjoy seeing a bit more of the country. This year the family wants to fly to save time. The savings over flying is about $350 if we drove.

Has anyone who normally drives considered flying and if you have flown did you regret not driving?

I am scared :scared1: of flying but have been on an airplane in the past.

We've talked about it, but we've decided we just don't want to do it. We did a list of pros and cons and driving had WAAAAY more pros over flying.

We live over an hour away from the airport, then add another 1/2 hour for parking. I think if we lived closer then flying wouldn't feel so cumbersome. Plus we prefer the freedom of driving more than anything!

I have this debate going on in my mind most of the last two weeks for a June trip. We have added family going, staying off site as a budget trip to use the AP an added time.
Every dollar saved counts on whether we go or not.
The big thing is the cost of gas is really a deciding factor for us fly or drive.
We flew a few weeks ago, 2 hr direct flight.
For the 4 of us the difference is $400 including the car rental, then I am flying,

I am an anxious flyer, but terrible PANIC attacks driving. I am more a flying gal, 2 hr flights vs 2 days on the road each way.

Gas comes back down, and we can get away with one room., I can be talked into driving more frequently.
Flying, has to mean more Disney time and $400 difference.

it going to be tight. maybe in 2 years we will do 3 trips. i have to be able to get to a disdad convention and jan. 2013 is out so im shooting for 2014.
