A half-million views on this thread! :cheer2:

Late last night, on the birthday of Fess Parker, the Disney Legend who starred as Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier, the "For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" thread topped 500,00 views since its inception:

Part one: 207,597
Part two: 210,793
Currrent: 81,610+

[See page 1 for more details.]

A lot of views and a lot of miles driven!

All the best. :thumbsup2

YAY! Then it was appropriate that I hoisted my drink to Davy yesterday!

Seriously, I don't know how I went from 14 to 31 overnight :( ;)

31!!! ill be 47 on the 23rd. 5 more years and i get the senior citizens discount at the diner. :lmao: times goes so fast. thats why you have to go the wdw as much as you can!!! :dance3:

It's bad enough when it's your kids doing that but when it's your spouse...:lmao:
:lmao:

1 day to go for our next driving adventure to WDW! We decided last night to leave a day early this year, and drive straight through! This will be a first for us, as we normally leave 2-2:30am, and stop overnight in Georgia, Kingsland area, and finish the drive in the morning. We decided to leave the same time and just head straight for Orlando this time. I'm figuring as we normally hit Kingsland around 4-5pm, we can make Orlando by 9 or earlier.

We don't actually check into our Disney resort, Riverside this year, until Monday, so I booked two nights, Saturday, when we arrive, and Sunday night at the Hampton in Lake Buena Vista. I was shocked it is only $70 per night, and has some fantastic reviews. Figure we'll spend a night at DTD and be able to get to Riverside without a big AM rush\drive.

Anyway, here's hoping the non-stop run doesn't kill me! We leave tomorrow morning, or, as my daughter says, in the middle of the night tonight!

Whoohoo! CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!! :cool1:
have a great trip steve. tammy will keep an eye on the place for you. :thumbsup2

We leave on Thursday 8/23, for our first drive down from NJ. I plan to take the inland route and look to leave around 3am with a stop overnight in Brunswick Georgia.
have a great trip

Left our house in Philadelphia this morning at 2:35. Straight down 95.

Crossed the Delaware state line at 3:15.
Crossed the Maryland state line at 3:39
Crossed the Virginia state line at 5:15
Crossed the North Carolina at 8:08

Had a quick bathroom break and just took a longer break in North Carolina for the kids to stretch their legs. Back on the road now. Should be passing into South Carolina around 11:30. Going to drive to savanna and stop for the night. Should be back on the road and on our way to the Art of Animation by 7:00 AM tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the detailed report!

You made particularly good time through Virginia.

Just returned from Pittsburgh to home today. Traffic was not bad, we missed the rain and construction was almost non-existent. Left at 7:00 am Friday stopped in Richmond Hill, GA last night at 6:00pm. Could have done the last stretch but decided to take it easy for the evening. We drive the 79-19-77-26-95 route. Left this morning at 9:30 and got home to Windermere before 2:00.
Easiest drive we've had in a long time. (we make the roundtrip at least 2X/year)

BTW - Stayed at the Comfort Suites in Richmond Hill. They are in the middle of renovations, but the rooms were clean and the staff was really friendly. Good budget choice since it was $50 less than the Best Western across the street!

What's the latest on gas prices in your area? Especially the I-95 corridor.

There all going up, that's for sure.

All the best. :thumbsup2

we left orlando abut 10:30 sat morning I got home(bucks county pa-right above philly) at 4 am sunday morning. we stopped a few times for gas and we stopped and sat down to eat dinner. I think I did pretty good with travel time(since we were sitting on I-4 for the first hour and a half).

on the way down I like the fact that the mile markers count down till your out of that state I wish it was like that on the way home also

Hey guys. What time does afternoon traffic start in Jacksonville? We are planning to leave WDW after lunch and suddenly realized we could hit afternoon work traffic. What time should we hit Jacksonville to be safe from the traffic??

Need to know by tonight please!!!!!

Sharon, we've gone through the area at all sorts of times, including morning rush, afternoon rush (in both directions, no less!). Check out this map, as it'll show you I295. We never adjust our times, but do sometimes take I295 if it is close to normal rush hour. HTH!

sharon, i sent a text to my buddy with the flashing lights who lives and works just north of jacksonville, as soon as he gets back to me ill text you. :thumbsup2 i know last year i hit jacksonville around 5pm, i was heading south and he said i would be ok everyone is heading north. he was correct, they were all backed up going north but heading south was moving along.

Thanks. We've used 295 when the everlasting construction was going on so we can handle that, we WILL be going north, probably hit it around 3-4 if we stick to our planned schedule. Let me know what you think.

We may be responding too late for you but another factor with Jacksonville is whether the Jaguars are playing at home. We departed a bit early from WDW one Sunday in order to avoid the traffic.

[And we have the same concern with Baltimore and a Ravens home game.]

All the best. :thumbsup2

sorry sharon!! he didnt text me back. (maybe out of the counrty)
i had to take tammy to philly this morning, all is well!!!
go around if your not sure, better than sitting in traffic.

dvczerfs: Your latest countdown is rapidly approaching single digits.

All the best with your next record-extending drive! :thumbsup2
[see post #1 on this thread for the all-time driving records]

Heading out tonight for Jacksonville, FL by tomorrow night, then on to Port Canaveral, Saturday, for our 7 night Fantasy cruise. Hoping Isaac & the other unnamed storm stay out of our way.

I had talked about taking the AutoTrain home, but DH wants to drive home so we can stop at the fruit stands on the way. Can't do that on the train.

Fruit stands, eh?

From our experience, the best one (inventory, neatness, so-so bathroom) is located on I-95N at exit #298. Our second favorite is at exit #329. The rest that we have frequented during our many drives include those at exits #173, #284, #311, and #373.

Have a safe drive; hopefully, for your sake, Isaac will keep moving westward.

All the best. :thumbsup2
