are you getting out or are you staying?

We stayed.

Multiple tornado warnings. One was an emergency alert that gave us five minutes to retreat to the basement (which was emptied out of most items).

Our street didn't flood and our house and basement survived.

Now it's like a commercial: BC1836, you've just survived hurricane Irene (and an earthquake last week), what are you gonna do now? "We're going to Disney World."

All the best...and thanks for your concern. :thumbsup2

i hope there safe. alot of trees up there and wind. alot of power outages. so far we have power. it was on and off all night. alot of flooding.

wow, its still blowing and raining. its been about 12 hours now. stay safe marie!!!

Another 12 hrs, 24 of rain and and fairly strong winds with gusting. It just seems to be hanging around. We are okay on the mountain, no power outages I heard of, but our rain on the North end of the mountain is running into Streams and Creeks in Wilkes Barre so major area flooding in parts there. Now to watch the Susquehanna for the next several days.

Wondering what to do with 6lbs of cold meat the dh bought???? We will be eating sandwhiches all week. Some how a lb of ham and Turkey turned into the Subway.

BC that is great news, must have been a real nail biter through the night. I managed to fall asleep through the hardest hrs. 3 until 8 am. Have a blast in Disney, we will be there in just over a month. YIPPE

Gee, The Little Leauge series still went on, SUNNY out that part of the state. California won over Japan.

Hey again all! Four days left until our return drive to PA. Happy to report that our house and yard survived Irene per my father in law! Hope everyone up in the northeast is safe, and fared as well.

Now, back to enjoying the balance of our trip with no more stress!

TOTALLY enjoy the rest of the trip. So glad to hear everything is in order. I had a cruise to Bermuda in June and watch the FB travelers recently. THey had to leave a day early from Bermuda and spend today at Sea instead of disembarking. not sure if they were lucky to have the added day, or what they may find tomorrow if their cars are parked at the pier.

ill be up!!! do you have mayo or shall i bring my own??:lmao:

We got home late last night...took about 20hrs total to drive over the two days. Got a later start on Friday than we wanted (darn ILs kept talking as I was herding us out of their house) so we only made it to Augusta (we took the FL turnpike up to GA instead of 95 to avoid the weather). Hit rain in Harrisonburg, VA mid afternoon but it was light. Stopped for groceries and dinner in Harrisburg since we afraid that everything would be closed once we arrived in the Philly area.

Dh and I learned that we REALLY prefer not to drive but that it wouldn't kill us. We did like the Auto Train on the trip down and would definitely do that again.

Just reporting no storm damage for us just south of Philly along 95. We had some extra twigs in the yard (more chew sticks for the puppies) but no water damage or power loss. Glad to see that others made it through safely as well.

just got a text from a disdad who is driving home today from wdw. they took the train down but would have had to wait till next week to get a train home due to the storm. he said he had to wait for an hour to get today in virginia. that the stations had no power. im not sure where he was but the last he told me, he was going to take i95 all the way up. he lives at the nj shore. he must be driving so as soon as he stops and can text me back ill let you know.:thumbsup2

dvczerfs, thanks for the update. I hope all is safe and well when he gets home.

Hey, I have mayo and tons of cold cuts left! dh is out making subs now for supper. Thought he was making one for his self. We were lucky, my clients not so lucky. Will be in the Pocono's tomorrow. I have insurance claims for trees down in Bushkill. Lots of bridges out and roads with wash out.
I hope the trip is not to dicey. Dang all the construction near Tannersville. DD wants to stop there on the way back home.

Our days to drive down are getting closer. :goodvibes If we are taking the Van, I want to get the timing done before we leave. Just went over dh work car, next the van.

I am stopping at the outlets on the way back.
But I have insurance claims for roof meets a trees up in Bushkill first. I usually do special invesitgation for insurance, but the money is in adjusting right now...tons of work available from the weather this year. I am watching the :surfweb: as the claims come in the office. Fielding what I can get to by tomorrow. (by trade I am a licensed P.I. retired law enforcement)

I hope everyone made it through the storm okay. We're on the shoreline in CT and still have no power. It went out around 5:30 Sunday morning. We were woken up at 5:45 when a HUGE tree with a double trunk fell onto the neighbors' van and suburban. It crushed the van and almost sheared the cab of the suburban off. It also hit the house and broke a window, tore the gutter down etc. Thankfully nobody was hurt. It was a rough way to wake up though- very loud smashing noise and then the car horns went off. They kept going off because nobody could shut them off. I guess the battery finally died or something.

We didn't get any damage at our house other than some downed limbs and lots and lots of leaves/branches on the ground.

Safe travels everyone!

wow, glad to hear everyone is ok. thats one heck of a wake up call.

id rather have my toe nails pulled out than go to the outlets.:lmao: dw drug me around up there one sat. from the dance store, candles, shoes and on and on!!!omg!!:sad2:

Painless for dh who is my driver, he would rather climb the ladder for roof claims, then shop with me. He sat in the car while I ran in the outlets; Croc's for Disney, For dgs, got two pairs of Jeans for $19.99 at Gymboree, and 6 T-shirts at Osh Kosh by 1 get 2 free.

I had claims for trees on roofs, no cars yet. Smithfield twp had tons of trees and wires down coming in today.

Way long day for me, can't even stand upright.

Our plans were to take the autotrain yesterday, but our train was cancelled too. We weren't too disappointed, just jumped in the car and started driving. We left the BW yesterday at 10:30, arrived here in Chester, VA at 11:15 last night (which included about 1 hour 40 minutes for lunch, dinner and gas). There was very little traffic at all. We'll leave here soon (giving rush hour traffic time to die down), and hope to be home mid-afternoon.

Glad to hear everyone stayed safe during the hurricanes and earthquakes that happened when we were gone!

We are back.. we did the i95 route down and home we had to slingshot around baltimore up to 695,83 to 81 then 88 because of Irene.. we got on to 88 only to find out it was closed between 3 exits..luckily they had a local detour and we got back on after a few miles. Also luckily i90 was back open so we continued on that then the local routes home!

we put 2850 miles on the van between the ride down and the ride home.. down was about 21 hours home was 23.5! Stupid Hurricane!
