FOP Rope Drop Question

Sorry if this has been asked and answered before. I appreciate any help with figuring this out. I have an upcoming trip 6/23 and was planning to rope drop FOP. We are staying offsite so won't be able to participate in EMH that morning. Won't be able to enter the park until 9am. Will the line for FOP already be long at that time, making rope drop fubar? Will it be worth it for me to try? Thanks!

Yes it will be long by the time you get in. In the EMH hour it moves fast but then at 9 Fast Passes begin. So the line is both longer and slows down. It'll still be better at that point than later tho. They'll probly flip the sign to 120, but I'd guess an hour and a half thru the ride.

If you aren't staying on site and can't get a FoP FP, then I would opt to get in line and ride close to AK closing time. By the time you get to FoP I'd anticipate the wait to be 90+ min. Odds of a lower wait time would be when the park is getting ready to close

Thanks you for responding. I do have an evening FP for it just trying to figure out the best way to get in a second ride on it. I love this ride so much and would like to try to ride it twice in the same day. I guess my best option would be to try ride it again prior to park closing. I am also wanting to ride Everest at dark which is on the opposite side of the park. I guess I could do my 7:25p-8:25p FP then go across the park to Everest then back across to FOP and Navi before park closing at 10:30p. Is this doable?

Yes that is totally doable. AND bonus!! More exercise means you can have a second ice cream!!

If its an EMH and you can't do that, expect the line to be 90-120 minutes by the time you get there.
I would keep you evening FP. We have rien it several times close to closing and the line is usually under 20-30 minutes at worst. So that may be a good option to ride it a second time.
Your plan to ride, do some other things and check the wait times to decide when to ome back and ride should work.
Enjoy!

Rope Drop is the busiest time of the day for this attraction. Wait until later when the line is just a fraction of what it is in the morning.

When we have been there, I haven't seen the line really shorten up until evening . Mid day, it was still 120 minutes, would have liked to see it much shorter.

Evening is the best time for this one. I saw waits as short as 16 minutes last week.

My son just did this yesterday. Got to AK at the 9AM rope drop. EMH had been going on since 8:00AM. By the time he got to the park, the wait time was 120 minutes. He was going to leave and convinced him to stay. The 120 minute ended up only taking him 1 hour. Now, he was by himself so not sure if that sped up the process (there is no single rider line on FoP but I think towards the end of the line, you may get pulled up to fill in a space). He didn't indicate that he got ahead faster from being a solo rider.

I checked yesterday for an example. At 7:45 pm, the actual wait was 34 minutes. At 9:40 pm, the wait was 25 minutes.

Were those the posted times, or were they posted much higher?

Those were the actual reported waits. The posted times were 105 & 75, or about 3 times the actual wait.

With park closing time at 10 pm, it would be very easy to ride FoP twice in less than an hour. This can’t be done in the morning no matter how early you arrive.

We're here now, currently waiting in Navi line and yes, even on a relatively slow dat the wait right now at 902 is 75 mins.

So if I cant get a FOP fp but I also want to see ROL in th evening what would you suggest? Can I see ROL then head to FOP or the other way around?

Depends on when you're going. What time is ROL and what time is park close?
