Do the FoP vehicles stay in one place and just tip side to side and forward and backward, or do they actually move forward on a track?

They stay in one place. You just (really!) feel like you're flying.

The seat tilts side to side, and the floor tilts forward backward, but it doesn't move through space in any way. The movements are very well timed to the film, and it feels amazingly realistic.
