I am planning my first ever trip to DL in June- wondering what the best footwear options are? I have flat feet, yet live in flip flops during the summer, but I doubt that I can handle wearing them all day walking around DL for 6 days.... Thanks!:)

I wear flip flops in the spring/summer and uggs in the winter. That is what is the most comfortable for me, however I've never done 6 days in a row. Usually it's around 3 or 4.

I used to think it would be better to wear tennis shoes - but last year I wore my sandles and my feet didn't hurt at all - it was way better to wear the sandles I wear everyday.

I always wear a good pair of broken in tennis shoes. But I need high arch support.

Just the thought of walking around in flip flops makes me hurt! :scared: Maybe if they were Burkenstocks or something like that I could handle it!

When it's cold I wear tennis shoes and when it's hot I wear Teva sandals. There was a lot of Croc talk several months back but I tried some and had to return them because they just didn't fit my feet right. I tried 2 styles too.

Party-five brings up a good point. Wear shoes that you wear all the time. I remember buying a really expensive pair of walking shoes thinking that is what I should do to be comfortable. My feet had never hurt so bad. In my real life I never wear tennis shoes so why I thought this would be comfortable is beyond me. I live in my flip-flops during the summer so that is what I'm used to and it is the most comfy for me.

This issue comes up every so often and there's heated debates about what's better. ("Crocs!" "Flip-Flops!" "Tevas!" "New Balance!" RAAHHHRRRRR! :rotfl: )

I agree, it just depends on your feet and what you're used to. I have very high arches and I broke my foot a few years ago, so I live in athletic shoes. My podiatrist told me to try New Balance, and I also spend a lot of $'s on these inserts she told me about, called "Super Feet." So I wear my broken-in NBs, and my expensive inserts, and have no problems.

The thought of flip flops, with no support, makes me shudder. But then, I just about drop my jaw whenever I see some sweet young thing sashaying around Tomorrowland wearing 3-inch stilettos! :scared1:

Tennis shoes with gel insoles. I'm gelling! :)

Tennis shoes, I always wear tennis shoes :thumbsup2

I always wonder about those chickies in the heels...you know they're in pain!

I'm from NJ and I think that the tennis shoes as they are being called on this thread, are what I call - sneakers. :) Once I wore open toed sandles in the park - twice in those 8 days, my tootsies got stepped on in a line...OUCH! Now I always wear walking type sneakers with cotton socks.

Tennis shoes, sneakers...same thing. :)

Any favorite brand of athletic (tennis, sneakers, etc.) shoes?

I love New Balance. Nikes don't fit my feet well at all. Reebok also work for me, I just haven't had a pair in a while. I tried Crocs for DLR, but the bumpy thingy's on the bottom make my feet burn and my socks twist when/if I wear socks. I HATE twisty socks! Or the socks that scrunch down under the bottom of your feet - I wonder what they are afraid of to be hiding down there??? LOL

Add me to the high arched, give my feet support or I will cry group. If you want a pair of flip flops that will pamper your feet and make you a happy camper I say go buy these!! http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7213012.html

I found them suggested on the WDW side of Dis and I bought them for my 2007 trip to WDW and I fell in love with them! They aren't the cutest shoe I own (but they sure are cuter then Birkenstocks), but they are the most comfortable shoes I own. I bought a second pair and live in them all summer long!! They are also my regulars for the parks!

New Balance! They are the answer to everything!

Here are my happy shoes:

I have major foot issues...and in 2 surgeries on one foot, one on the other, and plantar's faciatis. Some New Balance kill me. They use 9 lasts, so I have to search for certain cuts. I bought one pair of these 2 weeks ago and have another on order!

Oh, and I wear Danskins socks. They are the best...they keep your feet dry, have arch support, and wick moisture!
