Footwear in DL- What do you wear?

Tennis shoes with gel insoles. I'm gelling! :)

This made me laugh, Pixiewings! :rotfl:

Our last trip in December I bought a new pair of New Balance (mostly because of this board - which I LOVE, btw) and put a pair of gel insoles inside. My dd16 was with me when I bought them and so she wanted a pair of insoles too.

We love them! And we constantly say, "Hey guess what? I'm gellin'!" :rotfl2:

We alternate depending on the day, temp, etc. Tennis shoes (I like New Balance but my husband prefers Nike for himself :upsidedow) We also have cheap crocs (made by Crocs but not "official" Crocs), and flip flops. I usually live in flip flops in the summer, but a LOT of walking in them starts to hurt. Vary it up; use what you use at home; break them in beforehand. Have fun!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

I used to be one of those people who was aghast at the idea of wearing flip flops to a theme park. Then 3 years ago, I bought a pair of Crocs Athens flip flops. I was a goner. Now I wear my Crocs Athens everywhere. For this trip, I bought a pair of the Disney Athens, as well as a pair of Mary Janes. I like for everyone in the family to have 2 pairs of shoes. And after getting caught in rain storm after rain storm 2 years ago at WDW, I'll never go with athletic shoes again. We're a Crocs family (although I adore my Teva Mush, too).

I have really narrow heels and the rest of my foot is regular sized. Shoes always slip up and down in the back and cause wicked blisters, which is no good in Disneyland. However, I got a pair of Alice Crocs(that don't look like crocs at all) and the strap on top paired with the rubbery material make it so my foot doesn't slip up and down at all! I love crocs. Wear them in and they fit your foot perfectly.

Be careful of Crocs when the ground is wet! I have a pair of Croc Mary Jane's that I love to wear to DLR! However, some of the areas in both parks get quite slippery when wet. I went sliding a few times. My sister, also in crocs, landed on her backside!

I wore converse the first couple of days I went to the park. Bad idea. There was some loose thread in the heel making stuff worse.

I JUST avoided getting blisters, but the skin on my feet was sore for days. Had to spend lots of time soaking them in the tub =D!

Tennis shoes here too. I don't have feet problem of any sort but love New Balance. They give me extra energy because they are just easy to walk in. I want my shoes to stay on my feet when I get on and off rides. I will be buying some new ones soon for my June trip. I want to have several months to wear them first and make sure they are comfortable.

I have to say one of the things I find facinating about people watching is looking to see what shoes other women (or teens) are wearing. I am constantly astounded. From the afore mentioned 6 in stilhettos to 4 in platform boots. :rotfl: Yes, I saw those last trip! I just can't imagine how they last all day in these. I wouldn't last an hour! It boggles the mind! :)

I love all these links to people's favorite shoes.

I have an office job. Yes, I go to the gym and take walks for exercise too.., but I don't think most of us are used to 5-10 hours per day of walking and standing. And that's just what you get when you are @ DL.

For me, I need comfy and protective shoes.., and it's still getting cold at night so I want socks and covered toes. Give me cushy, springy, arch support shoes.

For summer time when it's hot I love flops that have tennis-shoe type soles.., I have some great Nike flops and some cheap Sketchers flops that both help. But I don't like that toes can get stepped on in lines and spilt on too.., so I really usually wear the tennis-shoes.

I wore converse-type shoes once and my back hurt so bad by the end of the day.

And I agree with a previous statement~~ Don't use DL to break in new shoes.., it's not a good idea. Last time I went i brought 5 pair because I didn't know what I'd want. I wore three of them (over the week) and I was glad I had the option.

I wear flip-flops, but I live in them. I actually brought really comfy tennis shoes last time and wore them the first day. My feet hurt so bad by the middle of the day, when we went back for a swim I changed into my flip-flops and wore them the rest of our trip and my feet didn't hurt at all!

Wear what you are used to, don't switch footwear when you are going to be walking around for 10 hours a day ;)

I always live in crocs flip flops. I wore them every day on our last 10 day trip to Disneyland and last year wore them every day on our 21 night trip to WDW, they were so comfortable.

Will be wearing them again this year when we make our way to Disneyland.

Crocs with socks.....yes, I am one of THOSE fashionista types. Here in the Pacific Northwest we wear socks with everything, that's just how we roll....:rotfl2:

Actually, I just bought new Disney Crocs for myself and our three kids, but I'll be bringing our regular tennies along as well so we'll have a choice. You all are right about Crocs on wet pavement, and I have to add that they aren't the perfect choice for icy weather either, as I (and my bum) can attest from the last cold snap we had up this way.....

Wanting to save room in my suitcase, I packed a flat trendy type of sneaker. Bad move as there was absolutley no support and with all the walking my legs were killing me.
It really made it hard to walk anywhere once your legs are aching. It wasn't until we arrived in Vegas that I was able to go and buy some decent runners with a supportive sole, I nearly cried with relief. It was like walking on air:yay:
This is also really important if you aren't used to a lot of walking.

Tennis shoes (new balance) with socks, of course. I never wear sandals or flip flops. I hate not having socks on. I wear Columbia hiking shoes when it's rainy.

Any favorite brand of athletic (tennis, sneakers, etc.) shoes?

Well, New Balance defintely seems to be the brand of choice here on the Dis. It's also the brand my DH swears by... so I buckled to peer pressure and bought a pair. Hated them! Maybe I just didn't get the right style for my feet though.

I'm sticking with my Asics. I walk 3-4 miles several times a week and I love them! And I'm gellin' too, because I get Gel Kayano's, so it's built right in. :thumbsup2

While getting recommendations can help narrow things down, I really think you have to go to the store and try on to find the shoe that works best for you and your feet.

Good Luck!
