Footwear for the rooms?

Oh boy......seems I've offended a few people about not walking barefoot on the hotel carpet! Just wanted to know what some people like to wear when coming back from the hotel with tired feet! If its bare feet for most thats great, not judging! Just wanted to get some tips from others that don't! :flower:
We wear slippers or flip flops in the room because I have a bug phobia. We have also had staples and other small things that could cut our DD's feet on hotel room floors and I just feel more at ease with something on our feet just as others are more comfy without. Whatever gives you peace of mind and helps you to enjoy your trip is what you should do.

Don't take it personally, DisneyKim. Some people can't feel superior without making fun of others. Absolutely nothing wrong with your question, or your preference to be shod while walking in your room. There are many reasons people can't/don't walk barefoot: diabetes, circulatory problems, foot fungi, etc. I don't have a problem walking barefoot in the hotel room, but I bring slipper socks (with the little rubbery grippers) or a pair of Hue crocheted ballet slippers (about $12 at major dept. stores) in my carry-on in case I have to take my shoes off in the airport for security.
Your post has restored my faith - I felt a little bad about all the backlash on this topic. :flower3:

I'm a total freak, I guess. I hate, hate being barefoot, ever, for any reason. :crazy2: Okay, I'll take my slippers off to shower, but I don't think my foot has touched bare floor anywhere, ever, in quite a long time.

Your question was fine, it seems lately asking anything or giving an opinion that differs from what other's do or believe is subject to ridicule and sarcasm.

I've noticed this too and totally agree. It makes one a little leery of expressing an opinion on anything these days.

Anyway, I take a couple pairs of Thorlo footies to wear in the room. They are very cushy and soft and actually feel good. And it's not because of germs, it's purely for comfort.

I really enjoyed reading the posts in this thread. Everyone has their own preferances and everyone needs to relax and see the funny side of the quirks each of us have.

Personely I like to have naked feet whenever in the room. BW likes to wear something because her feet get cold. If you really want to see how dirty a hotel room floor is, walk about in white socks for an evening and look at the dirt they have picked up.

go the gas station use the gas pump (how many hands have touch that pump).

Touch the gas pump, why would you have to touch the gas pump?!?! :confused3

HeeHee!!! I live in Jersey, we don't have to touch the gas pump!!! Honestly wouldn't know how to do it!!! :scared1:

I just had a question for everyone. I have read this whole entire thread and in no way noticed anyone taking offense to anything until it was actually stated that people were upset. Am I just blind or what? Isn't and shouldn't it all just be in the spirit of fun? Now as to the topic at hand, I am a self-professed barefoot'n it gal! These puppies get hot but if I have to put something on I do have some of those cheap Old Navy sandals as well! I love to bring things on my trips that are so cheap I don't have to worry about keeping up with them! How about ya'll?

Yeah, people really seem to get offended about this stuff. I just posted on another thread about this and I'll say it again here. We wear slippers or flip flops in the room because we had a nasty ant infestation at POR about 5 years ago and I have a bug phobia - not a germ phobia. It's a matter of personal comfort and it's only a suggestion to take or leave. We have also had staples and other small things that could cut our DD's feet on hotel room floors and I just feel more at ease with something on our feet just as others are more comfy without. Whatever gives you peace of mind and helps you to enjoy your trip is what you should do. I thought that we were supposed to make suggestions to help people - why do people get so upset? :confused3

Goodness gracious! No one is upset that *I* see, we are all just having fun....maybe some people are just too sensitive! :confused3

Point taken. I woke up this morning feeling a little silly that I vented here on a subject that had nothing to do with what was actually bugging me at the time. I felt even sillier when I saw that you took the time to post about it! I will think before I type in future. It is more a matter of my poor judgment at that moment than a character flaw, though. Sorry. :flower3:

Probably a little of both, some too sensitive, some not sensitive enough. :)

My Teva flip-flops! Actually, I love to go barefoot, but those Tevas are so comfy and cushey--and they don't make your feet hot like slippers and socks do--that I wear them almost all the time now!

After swiming in the water that washes everyones genitals I go from the pool to the bathroom by the pool in my bare feet! After that I hop in the hot tub full of people and evil germs! :scared1: Then I walk back to my room in my bare feet while touching eveyone's door handle on the way! When I get back to the room I get on my hands and knees and crawl on the carpet, sometimes I even lay on it for a while! :scared1: I take a hot bath in the tub to relax after a day of collecting germs. Then I lay naked on the comforter/blanket that the hotel provides me and fall asleep with the phone receiver and tv remote on my pillow next to my head. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Your too funny! Hilarious!

This is the exact thing I was thinking. I mean it also never occured to me that pople were saying anything out of the way until it was mentioned. I thought that everyone was just having fun and mostly joking-that's all I was doing but I am beginning to think I need to stay away from the germ threads b/c people seem to get really offended.

I have these great Terrycloth flip flop slippers. They are easy to slip on if I am getting off the bed or something, but comfortable to walk around with and air out my tootsies after a long day!

I'm going to have to watch what I read ;) I just read that I have been sitting on dirty comforters...now this! I am really getting sick now...

I thought the replies were all in fun. What did I miss. By the way does anyone wash and iron their paper money ,who knows where that's been? :rotfl:
