Ok i don't want to stir up a hornets nest here but is anyone else sick and fed up with hearing about the world cup and it hasn't even started yet? I really hate football with a passion. every where you go there is England flags and merchandise you can't even go into a clothes store without seeing t shirts and stuff. When does it finish!! Sorry but this is just my opinion don't mean to upset anyone :bored:

I don't like football and I don't really notice all the football stuff as it does not interest me, however if England made the finals I would be watching and shouting at the tv. lol..

I really don't like football but theres something about the world cup and the european cup. I always say i'm not going to watch the matches but i'm the one shouting the loudest at the tv. I will be flying the flag......... but i don't like football ;)

I love it all

I can't wait for the World Cup. I've seen a cheapo T-Shirt in Asda, that I will wear for all the England games. I've also got some of those flags that you put on the car window ~ mind you the girls were mortified when I used them in Euro 2004 ~ so perhaps I won't be allowed to use them :rotfl2:

I used to hate football but with two boys who adore it I've kinda got involved now. I'm really excited about the world cup. Four years ago at the last world cup, the children were allowed to go to school early and they set a TV up for them to watch before classes, some classes were started a little later for the children (this was primary school).
It was me cheering at the TV last night for Arsenal, much louder than the boys!

I love it all, Neither Gavin or I support a local team but we always watch an England match!

Absolutely HATE IT!! Sadly DH loves footie although as a West Brom fan he hasn't seen much this year :rotfl: we will be spending much of the summer in different rooms

I love the World Cup, even though I'm not that into football. I think it's about more than football, it's one of the very few times where the English nation is actually a nation. This country is so unhappy and fragmented right now, it's great to see so many people flying the flag and being happy about being English.

Usually can't stand football. I know though that when the World Cup starts I am going to get drawn into it.

Football - a game of passion that takes you to the highest highs and the lowest of lows. If I didn't have football in my life, a team to support (Leicester City!) and a country to follow my life would be very dull.

A friend of mine showed me some new rules of the house - they're not mine, honest!!!!

LIST OF RULES

1. From 9 June to 9 July 2006, you should read the sports section of the newspaper so that you are aware of what is going on regarding the World Cup, and that way you will be able to join in the conversations. If you fail to do this, then you will be looked at in a bad way, or you will be totally ignored. DO NOT complain about not receiving any attention.

2. During the World Cup, the television is mine, at all times, without any exceptions.

3. If you have to pass by in front of the TV during a game, I don't mind, as long as you do it crawling on the floor and without distracting me. If you decide to stand nude in front of the TV, make sure you put clothes on right after because if you catch a cold, I wont have time to take you to the doctor or look after you during the World Cup month.

4. During the games I will be blind, deaf and mute, unless I require a refill of my drink or something to eat. You are out of your mind if you expect me to listen to you, open the door, answer the telephone, or feed the baby....it wont happen.

5. It would be a good idea for you to keep at least 2 six packs in the fridge at all times, as well as plenty of things to nibble on, and please do not make any funny faces to my friends when they come over to watch the games. In return, you will be allowed to use the TV between 12am and 6am, unless they replay a good game that I missed during the day.

6. Please, please, please!! if you see me upset because one of my teams is losing, DO NOT say "get over it, its only a game", or "don't worry, they'll win next time". If you say these things, you will only make me sadder and I will love you less. Remember, you will never ever know more about football than me and your so called "words of encouragement" will only lead to a break up or divorce.

7. You are welcome to sit with me to watch one game and you can talk to me during halftime but only when the commercials are on, and only if the halftime score is pleasing me. In addition, please note I am saying "one" game, hence do not use the World Cup as a nice cheesy excuse to "spend time together".

8. The replays of the goals are very important. I don't care if I have seen them or I haven't seen them, I want to see them again. Many times.

9. Tell your friends NOT to have any babies, or any other child related parties or gatherings that requires my attendance because:

a) I will not go,
b) I will not go, and
c) I will not go.

10. But, if a friend of mine invites us to his house on a Sunday to watch a game, we will be there in a flash.

11. The daily World Cup highlights show on TV every night is just as important as the games themselves. Do not even think about saying "but you have already seen this..why don't you change the channel to something we can all watch??", the reply will be: "Refer to Rule #2 of this list".

12. And finally, please save your expressions such as "Thank God the World Cup is only every 4 years". I am immune to these words, because after this comes the Champions League, Italian League, Spanish League, Premier League, etc etc.

Don't forget that the new football season starts in August :)

leicester city-reason enough to HATE football most times :rotfl2:

COME ON ENGLAND

unfortunately I'm in the same camp as AndRu's friend! I totally love the world cup, when all my girlies get together to have mid world cup barbies and dinner parties, I'm off down the pub with the boys screaming blue murder at dodgy offside decisions.
(and yes I totally understand the offside rule)

West Brom For The Win!

At least with this year's World Cup the KO times are reasonable with it being held in Germany.

As a big Liverpool fan I am looking forward to seeing Stevie Gerrard at the top of his game hopefully.

Cannot wait.

Just think, England will have to defend the Rugby Union World Cup NEXT year... and it doesn't look good for them.

Another one here who can't wait for the world cup. I ADORE football - Carol, I am seeing a lot of myself in you! :goodvibes

That's right we are going backwards at the moment, key players retiring etc
