My hubby and I bought an early Christmas present on slae at Kohl's this past weekend. We had been wanting the Foodsaver for a while, and the opportunity just jumped at us. I have used it so far for cheese, pecans, walnuts, crackers in a canister. Tried a bagle and I smushed it into a frisbee. :)

Just wondering if many of you have a Foodsaver and what ingenious ideas you have for using it.

I use it for the usual reasons and love it! But I recently needed to include some baking instructions for frozen meals so I typed them up and used the foodsaver to seal the little notes in a laminated fashion. Next I slid the note into the bag with the frozen item then sealed it. Now, DH can cook the meal himself without my help because the instructions are enclosed and since they are now reusable the next time I fix the meal I can enclose the instructions again!

Tiggerkeeper, what a great idea. I would have never thought of that. We haven't used ours for much, but DH buys rice in bulk - something like 25lbs. at a time. So I measure it into the container we use then seal it into individual bags.

I have a couple sets of canisters - got them for wedding presents. The ones that I have flour and corn starch in seem to unseal themselves sometimes. I think some got into the seal area and over time - like a day or 2 - the seal breaks and I have to do it over again. Anyone else have this kind of problem? And how do you fix it? I've tried over and over and the only solution I've come up with is to switch to a new canister.

We've had a foodsaver for years. We usually buy meats in bulk, divide and sometimes put a little marinade in the bag with the meat then freeze. The meat will marinade while thawing and it makes a quick meal. We also freeze fresh corn in the summer months to have throughout the winter. You can even heat the corn up in the micro in the bag. Wonderful --- .
