We have 3 nights / 4 days and Universal at the end of a 31 day stay in Florida by which time I'm sure we'll have barely any money left.

We're all foodies in my house so usually end up eating in all the nice places and that's where all our money goes! any recommendations for keeping the food budget down but still eating well around Universal please?

I haven't been in 10 years but am planning a budget-esque trip in June. Watching this thread with you!

Sharing the larger meals at 3 Broomsticks was a great way to taste a few different things and save a little. Heard good things about sharing meals at Thunder Falls too. The big Pink Doughnut is very sweet and very big. Easily a sharable treat for 4 or 5. We are foodies too and would rather share snacks. That way we get to try lots of different foods without left overs or waste. I'm wanting to try the Red and Blue chips at Chez Alcatraz on our trip in May/June. Would love to hear others tips as well.

And since we do tend to graze and try different things throughout the day, drinks and appetizers (with dessert later in tghe evening) is always fun instead of committing to a large dinner.

gsikes, sounds like we eat in a similar way. Sometimes we each order our own meals, if we each want something different than each other. Most of the time, we order 2-3 meals for the 5 of us and split it all. A lot of places serve large meals, and we prefer to graze or have snacks throughout the day (like butterbeer and churros :) )

I'm the exact same way also, which is why I can't even fathom the concept of choosing dining reservations 6 months in advance for trips to WDW. I don't know when I'll be hungry and when I won't because our group saw a couple snacks that we wanted to try and filled up on those.

Lite breakfast in your room. Muffins, fruit, juice. Lunch main meal, lite dinner.

All restaurants have menus and prices listed on Universal site. If your a planner and a big foodie you can choose your places to eat ahead and have a pretty good idea about the cost.

We are a family of 4 with 2 adults and 2 teens. We tend to buy 2 or 3 entrees and split so that we can try all different things. . We bought 2 pizzas at Red Oven and had left overs. We also bought 2 entrees at Cowfish (amazing) and that was enough. Their burgers are 1/2 pound burgers. Twice we bought 2 entrees in Springfield (surprisingly good) but that wasn't quite enough so we had to have dessert.

Fab tips thank you all, I'm making a list :)

We got into the habit of heading for Bubba Gumps (have a Landry's card), Mythos, Emerils, Lombards, I'm sure there are many other lovely places that would fit nicely into a smaller budget!
