Totally embarrassed that I'm having to ask this... But how do I say the above bolded items? I always want to order them, but have no idea how to say them, and want to avoid looking like a dunce!

Beignet is "ben-yet," correct?

How in the world do I say pomme frites?!? They have sounded delicious since I first heard about them!

I've studied French, so I can tell you--they are pronounced 'Ben yay' and 'pum freet'. Don't pronounce the 's' at the end, even if you are referring to more than one. The final 's' is silent in French. Enjoy!

Haha! I've totally always wanted to ask this myself but never got around to it. I could see myself trying to order a beg-net and getting "that look".

I grew up in Quebec and Ontario and I pronounce it similar to pom as in pompom.

And I agree, the beignets are much better at the Jazz kitchen then NOS.
