When is the best time to go to the Food & Wine Festival? Or is there a better time? I was looking into going the second week of October, so not at the end and shortly after the opening of the festival in Sept.

Any other tips for getting around the festival are welcome. And opinions on its worth too.

Try not to go while its Jersey week, between the 2 the crowds seem to swell. Eating around the world is fun, drinking is as well

I happened to go last year during Jersey week. We did not find the crowds that bad. For wanting advice, remember to pace yourself. There is so much to taste and drink. Every Saturday during the festival, Party of the Senses is held. I would try and make that. They have color coordinated themes with different foods, deserts, and of course, wine.
