I bought my first DVC in Feb (506 Pt BWV)
Today I booked a 1br Oct 2-8 for my 20 year anniv.

What is the Food and Wine Fest that I keep seeing? I love my wine (in moderation) and am looking forward to this festival, but what is it?

Thanks in advance.

On another note, I just booked some 2br units for the week before Christmas and was surprised that there were still plenty of preferred views left. I'm on the wait list for a GV.

The food and wine festival is AWESOME!!! It's at Epcot in October and I believe part of November. You can sample food and wine/beer from all over the world. It's alot of fun. Try it some time! ;)

This past October was our first F&W and it was incredible! They set up kiosks all around the world showcase offering sample sizes of specialties of different countries, as well as wines from those countries. The kiosks are not limited to the countries in WS either. This year there were foods and wines from Greece, Australia, Poland, etc. I wish I had kept my guide. I just remember the lamb chop from Australia was awesome. DH was partial to a chorizo quesadilla from the Mexico kiosk.

What is it --it's great it's wonderfull it's going to be our 4 th time and I can't wait

We lucked up on it one year and had such a great time that now we plan our vacations around it. My dh loves unique beers so we went to the free beer schools and well he drank alot and I learned alot about how they make beer. And the free wine schools were excellant we did 3 different ones and I realized that I still don't like wine however I do now know how to swirl it, sip it and cleanse my palate- it was alot of fun and educational and by no means did I waste it I drank every drop.
We love going around and eating samples for lunch one day, however they are not free- a couple of dollars each depending on what you get but they also have wine sample at the different countries that you can sample for a couple dollars so you might enjoy the variety. Enjoy and remember calories in Disney don't count!!!! ;)

We've never been but were thinking about trying it this year. How crowded is it? Are there any times that are better than others - early in the event rather than later, or does it not make a difference? Is one day enough to sample it all?

Weekends tend to be crowded. The length of the festival has been extended, so it's hard to tell whether some time will be slower, although around Halloween, I think it's a bit busier then usual.

Is one day enough? I don't think so. I've planned a whole week!

Sorry - didn't read carefully enough before I posted. It's a great link, though, isn't it? :teeth:

One day is DEFINITELY not enough!! It has taken us about one complete day each to hit the high spots on each side of the World Showcase. Add in time to take a few wine or food classes and it takes longer. I think we're up to about four days to cover it, and we have yet to go to any of the evening dinners or other special events. Four days is just to hit the booths and take classes. And since they change the classes and chefs who are there every week or so, I expect I could spend a good 2 weeks there to cover it.

Oh, the F&W Fest is wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

They have little kiosks all over the WS from all over the world(not just the countries represented by the permanent pavillions). Each kiosk has a couple of different samplings of food and drink from their country (ie-Poland has kielbasa and a signature beer). The little samplings usually cost from $2-$4.

We usually walk around there and just eat our way through and don't even worry about planning priority seatings for lunch, dinner or anything else. We just graze and nosh all day.

Thanks, Mikesmom, although you almost gave me too much info! I'm hoping to put together a long weekend trip this fall and give the F&W a try, but it doesn't sound like that will be enough time, but maybe we'll at least get our feet wet and find out that we want to do it again and again and again.

If my friend and I try a little food and wine at the different countries, what is everyone's favorite countries? :cat:
