Food & Wine - night before Columbus Day

I have heard Food & Wine should be avoided on Fri/Sat nights. What about Sunday night 10/8, night before Columbus Day? I know it's a holiday some people get off work but that night works best for us to go. However I can figure something else out if need be. Thoughts?

It will probably be crowded. We've been twice on the last weekend for it. Once a Saturday and the other a Sunday afternoons. Very crowded but manageable. If a line for something is too long just move on. I think Sunday night would be your best bet for a weekend night. Most people don't get Columbus day off any more.

It's the Columbus Day Weekend thing that will pump up the crowds which is why we avoid that weekend and the few days right after CD. Sunday itself is not as bad as Sat otherwise.

Thanks for the responses! Wish we could avoid Columbus Day but fall break dictates our dates!!

We went in 2014 and 2015 on the Sunday before Columbus day. It was hot and crowded and lines were long, but it definitely got better later in the afternoon/evening. We had a TS lunch, so we waited until we got hungry again to get food from the F&W booths and did that for dinner.

Glad to hear it got better in the evening. Our plan was rope drop for Future World with lunch at Garden Grill. Then after a resort break (we always take a break!) return for Food and Wine until close. I have done F&W during the day... I know lines are less at lunch time but it's too hot for me to eat til I drop! Lol

So how is Epcot on Columbus Day itself? Would going on Monday be better than Sunday?

This is similar to what we did, although we didn't go to the resort for a break because it was too far. We did Future World until lunch at Biergarten around 100 pm, then we explored country pavilions for a while (they were not crowded inside, it was only the walkways/booth areas that were crazy), and then starting getting some food samples around 530. We left around 730 before watching Illuminations or anything since we hadn't take a break that day.

Sad to say but CD Weekend, CD itself and a day or 2 after are all about as busy as a F&W Saturday at WS, not quite but close. We stumbled into this time frame 3 years back, never again.

We spent the Saturday before Columbus Day at Epcot for F&W. It was crazy busy, but we used Touring Plans to figure out what to do and when, and was able to do everything we wanted to do, and ended up staying from RD to park close.

Mind you, there were lots of groups going around for Drinking Around the World events and bachelorette groups, but for a small group, it's completely do-able, just as long as everyone is mobile and you don't need a stroller or wheelchair assistance.
