Food & Wine Fest; An unexpected negative effect?

:scratchin *duh!!

Thanks for the heads up!! :thumbsup2 I called CRO and asked, and they said the dates arent published yet... that was a couple of days ago, and I was "guesstimating"!!! :lmao:

October has certainly become a more popular time to travle for many of the reasons people have listed here. I think if you can avoid weekends, usually the third week is the least crowded. The first week is a little more popular because the F&WF has just started, as has MNSSHP. The second week is usually a school holiday, and the last week is Halloween. Just my observations.

We always went the first week of Nov. it was value season for the resorts starting around Nov. 3rd till Thanksgiving. Now they have changed it to regular season which makes me think it must be much busier than beforeduring that time period.

we went last oct for the FWF and it was crowded
but we went on a holiday weekend
i forget which holiday but we saw kool and the gang
we didnt care about the crowds-it was so much fun
i cant wait until they release the concerts for this year

I think Disney has focused on getting people there during that previously *slow* time, it can be the worst of hurricane season. They kicked off Free Dining for October as a big push for attendance, and the promotion worked. And then all the events that people have mentioned - F&W, MNSSHP, etc, are draws in themselves.

F&W is a v. popular time for DVCers as well.

First when I say "negative" I should explain that my wife and I love the food & wine fest! :thumbsup2

But, we have slowly noticed a slightly negative effect that this event is having. We are long time visitors (addicts? :worship: ) of WDW. For years the best secret (well, ok not really a true secret) was to visit in Oct./early Nov. It was always the least busiest time we have found.

Now come the F&W fest and we have noticed that this is starting to no longer be such a "dead" time. Sure, it doesn't rival summer peaks or the week of Christmas...yet...but we are starting to develop a small dilemma(especially the last few years) in that we love the F&W fest but also like to go when the crowds are low.

That's all. :wizard:

Thought the same myself. In fact, it looks as if Disney is filling in all the "slow" times with special events and advertising to locals. Taking in the Holidays in early December used to be our "secret". When my DD9 was younger, we would watch evening parades with no one within 50 feet either way. No more. Can't blame Disney, but I still miss the slow times
