Our party of 5, including a 30 month old, will be spending 8 nights at SSR (2 bedroomm) and 7 nights in a GV at BW :yay: next month. Our grandson is usually an early bird when it comes to going to bed. We are hoping that he will sleep in his stroller and that neither his parents nor us (grandparents) will have to babysit. But, if babysitting has to be done, so be it. We adults really don't want to be cooking meals nor heating up pre-prepared meals from the supermarket.

We really would like to take advantage of the dining plan and room service is not included in the plan. Is it possible for one person in the party to go to one of the resort's restaurants and place an order for dinner to go for two people?

I have asked this question on the Restaurant board and received a small number of conflicting replies.

Thanks.

You're getting conflicting replies because the restaurants have conflicting policies on this. Some will make up meals to go, some won't. It probably also depends on how busy they are.

WDW restaurants really aren't set up to handle takeout business. They have enough kitchen staff to handle the orders from the people who are seated in their dining room; those resorts that offer room service are staffed for that. If the super-popular places offered takeout, can you imagine how overwhelmed with orders they'd be?

Never tried it at WDW resorts, but years ago I asked the Sonya's/Shutter's hostess at Vero beach if they could do a take out order. The girl looked perplexed and had to ask a supervisor who said "sure we can". They just put everything in those containers they give you to take home leftovers. So every time we go to vero beach we do this once or twice. And, I had one experience when I went down to place my take-out order and the new hostess said "oh.. I'm sorry, we don't have take-out" and I tell her "yes you do, I've done it many times". She asked her boss and "wow! I didn't know we could do that".

We're just not restaurant people and it is nice to get a well prepared and easy meal to have have in peace in our own space. We have also come to realize that the entrees are enough for 2 people, so now a days DW and I order 1 entree to split and 2 salads and we don't order any drinks.

So now we have a nice chef prepared meal in our room at less than half the price since we don't order drinks and aren't tipping the waiter. And some other couple is going to get a table that much sooner. Win-win situation.

I think bottom line is it is very likely that any Disney restaurant can and probably will do this. As Lynne M stated the restaurants are is not staffed for take-out business in general, so they don't advertise it, but I bet they'll do it. Good Luck! :thumbsup2
