We are going to WDW in Sept with our DS who will be almost 11mo. We are doing the free dining and almost all our APRs are for buffets plus I'm planning on ordering some groceries online for him (water, cereal, jr. baby food) but I don't want to be lugging too many jars of food around the parks with us.

I guess my question is does anyone have any tips on what he can eat in the parks and restaurants?

This is the first trip we've taken to Disney with a small child and all I can remember for kids on the buffet lines is mac & cheese which I don't think he can eat for 8 days straight! He is already eating some solids and finger foods and he (so far) doesn't have any allergies.

I am not sure about at Disney, but here are some things my 13 month old twins are eating: chicken nuggets, any type of pasta, yogurt, pancakes, muffins, cereal bars, raviolis, cut up veggies (corn, peas, carrots), meatballs, hamburger (cut up), tons of cut up fruit (bananas, peaches, pears, grapes, etc.), rice, mashed potatoes, cheerios/dry cereal, crackers. Good luck!

it really depends on what you feel comfortable giving him. at 11mo my kids were all eating table food(but we also never did the jar food thing) so if it were my kids i would have just been cutting up things i could find on the buffet.
good foods to get and cut up are anything that can be mushed, or is kinda soft.
one thing that might be more difficult than what to eat, is how your child eats. babies make a mess. at least my kids always did. after a meal they are covered in food(at 11mo my kids ate with their hands, i would assume most peoples kids do) so keeping clothes clean will be a hurdle.

My son wil be 23 months when we go to Disney and we have DXDP.

We have breakfast buffets and some family style dinners planned. Breakfast DS loves eggs. They also have cereals and oatmeal and fruits - I think breakfast buffets would be the easiet place to find food for DS.

I'm not sure where you're dining, but if you go to allearsnet.com you can find the menus of the restaurants you're interesed in to see what they offer that you can order that your son will also eat.

My son loves chicken..and at that age he would eat any chicken - you just need to cut it in small pieces. Bread is also good. Any vegtable he eats in baby food he can eat off a menu - again you will just have to cut it small or "mush" it a bit. Mashed potatos are also good for a young one.

If you're concerend about enough food for his meals, Gerber graduate meals are good. They have different varietys in little "tubs". Again not too bulky. You can always carry one with you just in case. They say to warm them for 30 sec in a microwave, but these foods are already cooked and can be eaten without being warmed.
Again, good in case of an emergency.

As far as snacks...my son loves applesauce and I plan on ordering a 6-pack of the individual appelsauces (there are many brands that have them). They're not that big and easy to carry around and good to feed him while we're waiting to be served dinner. Also they sell fruit all over WDW. My son likes bananas.

I'm planning on bringing some of his favorite snacks such as goldfish and cheesepuffs. Putting certain amounts for the day in ziploc bags is a great way to carry them around the park. Cheerios is another popular snack for children your sons age.

I would also suggest you bring plastic silverware for yourson. Gerber has disposable ones which are very convenient. They may be more comfortable for your son.

Another thought, my son was on formula until he was 1 year. So at 11 months he was still taking 2 - 3 bottles of formual a day and then switched to mil after he was 1. Will your son still be on formula whan you go to WDW? If so this will also help supplement his nutrition.

Good Luck

I was going to suggest these same things, DD was eating these things at about 11 months :) She's 12.5 months now, so I know what you're feeling! She still gets a jar here and there if we're in a super hurry.

Id take some jars of baby food if he is still eating them but I would count more on table food. You did a good thing by the buffets!! My son is 2 and we eat at a lot of them knowing that he can for one eat for free but will have a variety to choose from!

There are stands with fruit like bananas so that might be a good choice as a snack for your son. If you eat somewhere other then a buffet ask if you can just order a side item. Some places have mashed potatos or green beans, that might be a good choice.

We took our son for his first bday. And I ddidn't take any jars of baby food with me. He ate banannas, applesauce, mac and cheese, raviolli, frys, pudding, corn, crumbled up burgers, bread ,crakers, mashed potatoes. I was always able to find something for him at a disney resturant. I wouldn't worry about taking extra food there is alot to choose from, check out the menus online and decide what places have the best food for your son to eat.

My ds is 11 months, and has been eating only table food since he was 8 months. We stopped doing baby food because he did so well with table food. He eats everything and anything we eat. The only thing the doctors recommended people to wait for is eggs and peanut products because of allergies. He's had it all and we have been lucky with no allergies so far.
My advice is to just start trying different table foods just to make sure he's not allergic to them and can handle them. Try one new food a day so that it's easier to tell what it is if he does have an allergic reaction to something. Good luck and don't worry, your little one will be fine.

Keep a few ziplock bags in your diaper bag and take cheerios, rolls, bagels, a banana from the buffets. I didn't think of this myself, the waitstaff always approached me and gave me items for my baby. The waitress would say "here's a cup of cheerios for later" or leave a banana when giving us our check.

I would only recommend this for babies.

Also, pick up a sleeve of Thomas' Bagels at one of the DVC resorts. My son last Nov (he was 9 mos old) was on a bagel kick and lost so many bagels. At $2.50 each I couldn't take it anymore!! Finally, I found the Thomas' bagels at the Boardwalk General Store and he was set. :rotfl2:

Have plenty of crackers with you. My boys love goldfish and club crackers.

My kids didn't have any allergies at all, and by the time they were a year old they were eating only table food. I would cut meat up in very small pieces (used a food chopper at home, IIRC), and they ate whatever we were having. Buffets should be pretty easy, but you may need to cut the food up, of course.
