Food That Underwhelms You...

Oh, and I almost forgot - coffee. I don't get how people go crazy for coffee. To me it's very bitter.

Any kind of fried or fast food. It looks great at first, but I end up hating it... I think I'd rather have a plain salad than any fast food.

I haven't had a smore in years on a graham cracker. We have - since the 70's - used saltine crackers. It cuts way down on the sweet and give you that needed salty requirement.

Everybody whoever camped with us, knew that if they wanted a good ol smore, then they would need to bring the graham crackers, cause you wouldn't find any in our camper.

I will have to try this or the peanut butter next time we have smores. Lately when we have a bonfire I have been making banana boats (banana with chocolate chips wrapped in foil and warmed over the bonfire) instead of smores because I don't like smores.

Watermelon. Now that summer is upon us, I feel like it's everywhere, and I have to be that weird girl that doesn't like it. To me it tastes like sugar water.

I'm with you on this one. I hate watermelon, and everyone thinks thats just the weirdest thing. It just does nothing for me.. :confused3

A big turkey dinner. Fried turkey is pretty good, but otherwise I don't really like turkey.

Salt on a slice watermelon. Why do I want to make it salty?

Cantelope.

Sushi.

I like a good California or Philly roll with a chunk of wasabi. Nothing clears out the sinuses better, but I don't get all the love for sushi because it's really rather bland on its own.

I hate turkey. I especially hate how the fridge smells with leftover turkey in it. Yuck! I'm a lot of fun at Thanksgiving! LOL

Tuna salad
Jello salad
bean salads or bean casserole. :p
Philly cheesesteaks - I've never had a good one. :confused3 I never had one in Philly while I've been there. I would need to know a good place to get one.

That's because you both do not have the NY water to make a great NY pizza. There IS a difference.

:snooty: :thumbsup2 I've learned from bad, prior experiences :crazy2: to never to eat pizza or bagels that are not made in NY. Yes, I am a pizza/bagel snob and proud of it. :snooty:

So true, but you have to include New Jersey in the excellent pizza and bagel making territory. I put Neil's Pizza in Little Ferry, NJ or Boxcar Bagels in Bogota, NJ up against anything made across the river in Manhattan.

When it comes to food, we don't mess around in Bergen County. :)

Gazpacho--I should love it, based on the ingredients. But it sort of revolts me.

Asparagus--the vegetable that manages to be bitter, stringy and slimy all at once.

LOL, you sounds just like DH! There are so many foods he will ONLY eat when we're in NY (where he grew up) and he refuses to eat them down here. Pizza is top of that list!

Count me in as another one who isn't a big steak fan. I never understand people who go on and on about steak and how tender it is and everything. Maybe I've just never had a really good steak, but I'm really not that interested.

I've never been really fond of certain foods that I thought I "should" like but just admitted recently that I don't. Chicken, turkey and steak. What I found I like is the mayonnaise on the turkey sandwiches with cranberry sauce and the A1 sauce on the steak. The meat, I could do away with.

I also am not fond at all of tomato based spagetti. Boxed mac/cheese and plain type pasta dishes. I do like the white sauces on pasta but don't get the olive oil on pasta dishes.

Rita's italian ice - just don't get it at all.

Also Chipotle - the food is ok but i've never understood the long lines and huge wait for the food.

I agree with you on Chipotle. My cousin who is 21 makes a huge deal everytime she goes to Chipotle and goes on for days about how good it is and how she can't wait to go again and I do not get it.

I have to also agree with everyone is said turkey. I'll eat it on thanksgiving but any other time it seem so gross to me. Although I do like ground turkey for meatballs and taco meat.

I think the biggest one for me is spaghetti, with or without meatballs. It's really plain to me.
I don't really like sushi and I really thing ginger and wasabi taste weird.
I also don't like chicken, but I like turkey. For me, chicken is just so... idk, lame.

But,
I LOVE steak and it's my favorite food. I think it's one of the last things I would ever give up.
I also really like meatloaf but I think a lot of it has to do with the quality of the meat and the ingredients accompanying the meat.
And I really love tacos, but I make some BOMB tacos.

This might be more of a restaurant underwhelming me, but I don't get the desire to eat at buffets like Shoney's or Ryan's. I guess because it is 'homecooking', and the quality of the food underwhelms me. I guess the point is 'you don't have to cook', but honestly I can make better meatloaf, green beans, and mac and cheese at home for a 1/3 of the price. I'd rather cook myself and eat something that tastes good than to pay 3x the price for subpar food.

I've heard people say "well if we go to a buffet then everyone can get what they want". I can get what I want off a regular menu too. :confused3

What I think those people mean is the quantity of food for the price. But, I just can't get my money's worth from a buffet. I can't eat 3-4 huge plates of subpar food. Crystal Palace is the only buffet that I truly love! :thumbsup2

For me it's lobster and crablegs. Way too much work to get a tiny bit of tasteless flesh. Anything that has to be dipped in butter to make it palatable is not for me!
