For us, 'offsite with a Kitchen' is going to be Cypress Pointe GV.

We'll be there checking in on Thursday and out on Sunday. [Checking into disney property with DDP so we'll be eating way too much after Sat! :P ]

I don't want to "Cook", but I don't mind nuking or opening a package and sticking into the oven. I guess I should put it that I don't want to do any cooking PREP.

Thursday night we will (most probably) be eating at Epcot. We have ADRs but I may or may not use them.

So I have 2 suppers and 1 lunch to think about.

My offhand thoughts would be:
- Pizza and salad in a bag
- family size dinner for oven: lazagna, enchilda or elsewhat
- 4 frozen dinners to suit individual tastes for microwave
- Loaf of bread, PB&J, tuna, eggs

I honestly don't want to go the sandwich route. Mom and I like Tuna salad and Egg salad sandwiches (which require only main ingred. & mayo & bread), but DH & DD do not so it would be all the fixin's for them. Lettuce and tomatoes and cheeses and lunchmeats.

Hmm.. I also want a quick quick grocery trip. Get my 10 things and get out sort of trip.. not up and down aisles looking for condiments. Plus, it's easy to go too far and buy too much and I'm trying to keep costs down this portion.

Any great ideas out there! :-)

Quick and no-frills meals for us would be munchy type meals:

1) Assorted cheeses, crackers, grapes, and salami.

2) Sliced ring bologna, grapes, rye bread, and cucumbers.

You can go over to Winn Dixie or Publix and get a roast chicken. :thumbsup2 You can also get a tub of mashed potatoes to microwave.

GREAT! :thumbsup2

Thanks guys. I do believe I have my list, now!

The roast chicken and prepared mashed potatoes is a good idea. I also do tacos - buy a tub of the meat already made, shredded lettuce in a bag, taco shells and any other toppings.

The Winn Dixie is very close - sign up for their free card to save lots of money. There are lots of pizza places nearby and I think Cici's has an inexpensive buffet, although we've never been.

Lunch is tough - sandwiches or something to heat & eat.

Good luck and have fun! DFIL owns at CPGV so we stay there every year and LOVE it! Eating breakfasts in our room is a huge money saver!

I just discovered this idea on these awesome boards!

http://www.gardengrocer.com/

This company is like what we call "Peapod" here in Chicago. You can pre-order all of your groceries online and have them delivered anywhere in the Disney Resort area whenever you would like!! The groceries cost the same as going to the store and are of high quality, and they charge you only $20 for delivery... if you spend over $200 then delivery is free!

It'd be cool to do all your "shopping" online before you ever even leave so you're not wasting time at the store when you arrive!

I know when we arrive it's always a pain to figure out what we need, it takes lots of times (hours it seems)...and wastes our vacation time, then I found this, what a great idea!! Can't wait to go back now so we can try it!!

I actually used PeaPod for the short while it was available in my town.

I tried Gardengrocer but Cypress Pointe isn't listed in their list of places. :/

in the same winn dixie shopping center is papa johns pizza - yum! there is also a chinese joint as well

you are so organized - I just go to the grocery store and buy what looks good that day.

the winnie dixie is out behind the cypress pointe. you can even walk over.

Florida has some wonderful fresh fruit/vegetables - this is from a person who avoid vegetables.....

Check this place out. We have had a good time here It's a high quality prepare your own meals to go place. Maybe not something you want to do on vacation however, their chefs will do the prep work. It has delivery service. The store is located on TurkeyLakeRoad. Enjoy your stay. pirate:

Magic Mealtime

We're staying in a vacation home for the first time this Christmas. I'm thinking of visiting the Costco on Orange Blossom Trail for their big Caesar salad, tortellini salad, Greek salad, rotisserie chicken, dips, chips, cheeses, crackers, pizza, frozen crab cakes, and a big vegetable platter. We'll also hit Publix for breakfast items and small frozen meals, and place a big order at a local Chinese restaurant.

Combined with a few restaurant meals, I'm hoping this will give us all the freedom to grab something, or nuke something without anyone feeling like a galley slave. I have no idea whether or not this plan will work so we'll just have to see. :santa:

Organized? I *know* you're not talking about me. :teeth:

But, yep! that's what I want to do, see what looks good on the bakery items and fruits. THANK YOU for the information about winn dixie! I didn't know it was so close. I think I'll like walking over instead of driving again :cool1:

Sounds like a great plan to me. :thumbsup2

I like the idea of the vegetable platters. Dad is diabetic, and I'll be forever chopping and dicing for him to nosh on...having it all done would be great!

...and nothing tastes better than chinese food for a "Getyourownies" night:teeth:

We always eat breakfast in our room and also include fruit, bagels w/cream cheese, bacon & eggs.
